In reading other threads, I have come to the realization that I know very little about MDE. I decided to start a thread to ask basic questions that may lead into more sophisticated questions.

We are four owners on two DVC contracts. I am the only one who signed up on dvcmember.com and the only one with a MDE account. I manage all four of us under that one account. Up until now we have always travelled together (once a year) and have not had any issues. I consider the MDE account a family account.

I have noticed that many couples seem to have individual MDE accounts and they invite each other as family and friends. Is there a special reason for this other than perhaps travelling at different times? If one of the other members wanted to travel seperately, could I not book everything for them and they use my MDE login. Last year when I spoke to MS regarding some issues with MDE I casually asked if we should all have seperate MDE accounts and the CM implied that the longer I can hold off doing that the simpler it is.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having multiple MDE accounts among family members?

One of the disadvantages- I have an account and DH has one, everything is booked and planned on my account. DH never uses his, but CMs made him one last year when we bought DVC even though I already had one. We always have issues with my magic bands when we visit (I have to carry two one for getting into the park, and one for everything else), CMs always say it is because I have over 16 MBs attached to me (we go to Disney every month or so). Though, I just called DVC last week, and was told all my issues with th magic bands was because somehow some things done with Disney are finalized under my MDE account and other things under my husbands. The CM tried to fix it, but we won't know if it's fixed till we go in May.

I personally just have my one account. DH doesn't have one. I hope he never gets the urge to have one LOL. I'm the one who does seperate travel, but if he went somewhere I'd likely add my name anyway, just to get another MB. Also for "just in case I can go" purposes. I've booked a trip for me and my cousin, and put DH and DS on it "just in case".

Call in to the main WDW number and get transferred to the Tech IT support people. They should be able to take care of the account created for your husband so there's just one husband. I managed to make two profiles for my son, because I couldn't see how to edit his age and he had gone to Disney-adult age, and then I realized that his old MBs wouldn't work because that isn't the son I had linked. When I got through to the Tech support people they were able to merge the two profiles so I had just one son again. It's not exactly the same thing, but definitely get through to them and see what they can do.

Good idea! I've just been dealing with it, so many CMs try and fix it, but many have failed.

The one thing i would say is if you split up at parks and like to both have access to the app/website not sure if it will let 2 devices be logged into the same account at the same time-my husband and I originally signed up for separate accounts and linked them together and have not had any problems-we selected to be able to see and edit all plans linked to the other's account.

In our family (DW & I) we have one account that I use to plan everything.
We have both our DDs on one of our DVC contracts as owners/members. They have their own MDE accounts. They do their own planning, for when they go. I have links to DDs MDE accounts so that when we take DGSs, I can make FPs for them.

To make FPs for your DGSs, do you log into you DD's MDE account, or are the DGSs part of your friends and family?
If they are part of your friends and family, are any of them under age 14?

When I make the reservation if one of my DGS is coming with us I put his name on the reservation. That way when I enter the reservation into MDE, his name will be attached to the reservation for when it is time to make FP+ selections.
I log into my MDE account. One DGS is (3) now the other is an adult. I have them on my F&F list.

You must have "connected" your DGS (age 3) to your F&F sometime in the past. Today that is not an option. (see below)

I called the MDE phone number, told them what I wanted/needed, and they set it for me.
I have had multiple issues with MDE, multiple DVC Member accounts, the way I want to control my passes, and the MBs themselves.
I have had MBs allow me into the room but not into the parks or access to FPs.
I have had MBs allow me into the room and FPs but not into the parks.
I have had MBs allow me into the parks and FPs but not into my room.
I now get a hard coded room card at every check in that works much better for me getting into my room. The twisting of the wrist that is required while loaded down with luggage can be pain inducing.

I would imaging that what you are suggesing is correct that MDE staff connected through the parents MDE profile to allow me access to the my DGSs.

Have you tried that lately? When my wife is in her new profile, since she is connected to me. she sees the other profiles I manage, but when she clicks on one of the profiles I manage to add it, she gets an error message that says fu-u-u-u-u-u-mble with pictures of monsters inc characters.

Since the method you mentioned did not work for my wife (see post #12), I sent an email to connect from the profile I manage. (There is a "connect through a Disney account" icon next to the profile I manage) However, when she accepts, it actually reconnects her to my main profile, not the "subaccount" I manage. In addition, after she accepts, that subaccount disappears from my MDE account.

We only have 1 MDE account, and we never seemed to have trouble this Christmas when both using our iPhones.

We had one DVC account and separate MDE accounts. This has caused HUGE problems for me. The DVC account somehow became disconnected from me and connected only to my husband and tied to his MDE login. I have called IT a few times for this. Two days ago, they resynched my MDE account to DVC but then today it is disconnected again. Not only that but now ALL of my MDE info is gone! The site is asking like I had never logged in before.

It's still all there on my husband's acct, but I am going to make some screen prints quickly. All of our ADRs are there, the schedule, our party members, etc. I was logging into today to add our ticket numbers. Very worried about what is going to happen w/my magic band and when MDE when I am onsite.

Do you get the hard coded room card and still just keep for magic band for just in case? I have had so many issues with MDE that I am concerned with how my magic band is going to work.

We have a single DVC account and one MDE account for me, my wife, and our son. That is each of us has an MDE account. Our reservation showed up on all of our accounts. We have had no problems with Magic Bands or anything else but our last trip was last March and they could have "made enhancements" since then.

How does logging in work if you have one dvc account and three MDE accounts? I thought you had to have the same email address and log in for both

I don't have three MDE accounts. My wife and my son have the other MDE accounts. I am the only one who logs into DVCMember so my login works for both my MDE account and my DVCMember account.

We use MDE to "create" our family unit inside MDE
