MD/PA Ski Resort Recommendations/Ideas

My DH wants to take DS (11) for a ski weekend this coming weekend (with the holiday). He is thinking of going to Blue Knob because he hears it is less crowded. It is about a 3 hour drive for them (from Northern VA). That is about as far as they want to drive.

Anyone have any input on this place. Good places to stay. Of course, I've done the internet searches but I'd like some "real person" feedback.

Are there other places you prefer over Blue Knob and why?
