We will be driving from MCO to Vero Beach. Do you have a place to suggest for lunch(no kids)?

Should we look for lunch closer to MCO or will we come upon somewhere to eat after we drive for awhile?

Thanks for your help.

There are the usual off-the-highway places to eat scattered along the drive. I don't remember being wildly impressed with the selection of places to eat around MCO. There is a food court in the airport, if that appeals. If you want to wait until you get to Melbourne, Southern Sisters is a nice place to stop especially if you are looking for a late breakfast.

VB is a lovely resort but the nearby dining options have been disappointing for us. Following this thread in hopes of getting a good tip!

If you are taking the toll road(528 E), there aren't great places to stop between MCO and getting on the toll road and there is nothing on the toll road. It takes around 40 minutes before you get on I95 towards Vero. Once you are on 95 you will see the typical fast food restaurants. Again, if your directions have you exit at 156 towards Fellsmere Rd, there aren't many options between there and Vero so if you are really hungry, I would eat somewhere off I95.

I don't know what type of restaurant you would like. If it's a sit down place, I don't know Melbourne or Palm Bay well enough to suggest something. If you are looking more for Vero and/or Sebastian, I can help a little more.

We have driven twice both times from WDW Resorts to VB. We have always just ate once we got to VB. Both times in the Green Cabin Room. On the upstairs porch of the Main Lodge overlooking the ocean. The food is good and so are the drinks. It's a great way to start your vacation.

But now they have refurbish the dining options by the pool and main dining. So, waiting till you be to the resort may be the way to go.

Good luck.

You might consider using the Florida Turnpike to get to Vero. Also, remember the Disney Resort is closer to Sebastian, Florida. Vero Beach is another 10 miles south of the resort. It's about a two hour drive.

Also make sure you understand the tolls, many no longer have a cash option.

If you are renting a car, the tolls are pay by plate. You just stay on the main highway. If you are renting a car the agency will explain it. Mostly what happens is that your credit card will be charged later from the rental car company for the tolls. They will process the charges when the receive them after you return your car.

I've always just stopped for fast food on 95. I don't have any good suggestions.

Is this recent? Last summer I was able to pay cash for tolls.

If you're ok with waiting until you get off the highway, we enjoyed Squidlips in Sebastian. It's right on the Indian River, casual and good food.
