I arrive at MCO in a week, about noon. Should I take DME to the resort or Uber? Which is more convenient? Is Uber closer to Baggage Pick-Up and prompt? How's DME these days, and at the noon-1:00 time? Is DME worth the money I'd save? I've already got a DME reservation, but just don't know if I should take an Uber instead. I've got bad knees and get very uncomfortable standing in long lines. Please help with my decision.

Uber is great although my driver had great difficulty in locating me at MCO, it turned into quite a stressful situation with me running up and down escalators! If you can use DME then go for that option, it's probably the most stress free option.

We've used Lyft from the airport our last 2 trips (April and June 2021). We flew SW both times and were able to set our pickup location as right outside our baggage claim carousel. It was about a 10 min wait for pickup each time - drivers appeared to already be at the airport but it takes a little time to get from wherever it looks like they wait to our pickup area. Both time we paid just under $50 before tip for a Lyft XL (wanted to be sure there was plenty of room for luggage). The ride was just about a half hour to PoP.

In order to check the DME line, we would have had to go to the opposite side of the airport either before getting our luggage, running the risk of lines getting longer by the time we got back with our luggage, or drag our luggage up and across the airport, then down to DME, possibly to only encounter long lines. Since the cost was less than $50, I didn't want to risk running into a long line after making my 70+ mom get her luggage to the other side. Even under the best of circumstances, I don't think DME would beat the 40 min to resort after getting our luggage. It was money well spent and I'll likely do the same in September if prices stay the same. In Jan, I'm sure we will stick to Lyft/Uber once DME is gone.

Semantics, you didn't really set the pick up location just outside SW baggage claim. That is the one pick up location for that side of the airport.
The OP should use Uber or Lyft. Pickup is just outside SW baggage claim DME requires going back up to level 3, going diagonally across the airport then down to level 1

Thanks, that's great info to know-it sounds as if Uber would be so convenient to the SW baggage claim. I'm leaning towards spending the money and doing that.
