MCO TO Old Key West NO Tolls

When we were in the Orlando area a few weeks ago we had car trouble. It was a brand new car and the engine light came on Sunday Morning as we were wanting to start home.

We had to drive all over the place to try to find an automotive store that had the correct diagnostic equipment. We were frustrated from that and then had toll booth problems to boot! It is funny now but at the time DH was ready to smash a certain red light on the toll booth since it would not accept our money in any amount!:lmao:

So we were not just dong the MCO to Disney and back route when we encountered unmanned booths.

Hopefully we will be better prepared this time.

By brother in law had trouble with the rental company and a toll. From then on we always get a receipt. (But we never had an issue.) If he had gotten a receipt, he would not have had a problem.

Sometimes it's worth the little bit longer trip for the piece of mind.

I just got this notice from my rental car company:

"Orlando - International Airport-MCO/In-terminal/ORLANDO, FL

Please note: There are toll roads within this area that have converted or will be converting to all-electronic tolling or cashless tolling. In these areas, there is no option for a rental car to stop and pay the tolls in cash. If your travels will take you on a toll road in an area where there is no option to stop and pay cash for the tolls, Pass24 is the perfect solution. If you choose not to select the Pass24 pre-paid tolling option and do travel on one of these all-electronic toll roads, and do not have your own tolling device in the vehicle, the applicable toll will be paid for you and an administrative fee of $25.00 will be added to each toll utilized."

Which rental car company?

I bring an Airborne container full of quarters to WDW each trip and pay tolls (manned and unmanned) with them. The tube sits in the car and I don't have to fish for coins as we drive. NEVER had an issue with a toll booth in FL yet. I don't have the patience to drive side streets when I know I can shave 30 minutes off my time by using the 417.
