I need to figure out the best way to get to DTD for one evening. We are taking a cruise on the Fantasy. DS and I are flying in on Friday. DH will be taking the redeye and meeting us Saturday morning. Our flight arrives at 5PM, and I am trying to think of something fun to do. We have a room booked at the Hyatt MCO - so DH can get off the plane and get a couple hours sleep before we leave for Port Canaveral.

Right now, we have cruise transfers, but I am second guessing that. I am hoping we can cancel them, if necessary.

We had an idea to go to Cirque Du Soleil on Friday night. There is a 9PM show in DTD - since we are coming from the West Coast anyway, the timing would work well for us. We could go to DTD, get dinner, see the show and go back to the Hyatt afterwords.

I am stuck on the logistics on this idea. I don't know the best way to get there. Do I rent a car (overnight to PC, or just the evening)? Is it possible to take ME without staying on property? What about a cab? Would Friday night traffic be a problem? If I rent a car, should I just keep it, and drive to Port Canaveral - so get a 1 way rental? When I looked at the 1 way rental, it was going to be about the same as the transfers, which was why we just decided to do the transfers. However, if this gives us the extra night, maybe it is a better deal? If so, where should I park overnight at MCO? With tolls and parking, is this going to be too much?

Is this a bad idea logistically? Please help with suggestions!

Parking at the airport would be in the airport garage;
Renting a car for one 24 hour period, making sure the rental agency has a location near the port, is probably going to be your best bet;
You must be staying in a WDW-owned resort to use Magical Express.

Can I cancel the transfers? Any other rental car logistics I need to worry about?
