Any recent experience with one way car rentals MCO/Port Canaveral (Budget) or Port Canaveral/MCO (Avis)?

I looked at renting for the full week and paying for parking at port but it’s a few hundred dollars more.

We had a horrible experience with Budget on 12/26. Took forever to drop the car off at their location and get to port. It was a holiday weekend, tons of people cruising, and only two staff. I would not do it again.

I’ve done national a lot and it’s easy. They have a great shuttle. I would suggest sign up for emerald club for free and it goes much quicker if you pick up from the port

I haven't done it since before Covid, but my experience was similar to stout's above. We used Budget and the place was a ZOO both for drop off and when we disembarked and picked up a car on the way out. That Budget office is tiny. Really only enough room for two, maybe three at the counter and it was nuts during the time of the morning for embarkation and debarkation.

Agree with the comments that it was a mess pre-covid. We made sure we were one of first families doing walk off disembarkation so could get on the first shuttle to the rental office. It still took forever to get a car but was much better than the number of people coming off the next shuttle as we were leaving.

Getting to the port, you had to be ready to fight for a place on the bus. DH is aggressive so we got on fairly fast but lots of people didn't.

We pay the extra to park at the port now to not have to deal with this.

I second the National suggestion. Emerald Club is great when picking up from the airport, no need to wait in lines!

I just got back from a SWDAS cruise and rented from Avis for the full week - yes, it was more expensive for the car rental and parking fees - but it was part of my "Plan B" in case I tested positive at the port. I factored it in as part of the cost of doing business and traveling during covid times.
