Has anyone ever flown out of MCO on Christmas Day, or into MCO on New Year's Day?

I just booked my folks a trip to come up here to the frozen north for the holidays, and instead of going to PBI and changing planes, my DM decided that they'd rather drive the hour and a half to get the non-stop flights. (Non-stops to MHT are a rarity...) Anyway, they've done this annual trip into and out of PBI and the airport on both ends has always been dead. Just wondering what they might expect at MCO? She's especially thinking of the outbound trip since on the return, it doesn't really matter if the airport is crowded.

One of her concerns is parking, so any thoughts on this would be helpful too.

Thanks.

Allison

Well, I haven't done it yet but I will be doing it this year (leaving MCO 12/25 and returning 1/1). I'm expecting long-term parking to be full in the main (blue) lot so parking may be in the red or the gold lot. It may be worthwhile to look into offsite companies where they can make advance reservations.

Coming home can be tough if parked in the red or gold, especially if most people have come home earlier b/c there will be fewer shuttles going out there.

If you go to the OIA website, I think there may be a phone # that can give you parking status info. Or was that GSO?? Anyway, it shouldn't be too terrible but the best thing is just to be prepared for anything.

DW and I flew into MCO on 1/1/2002 and it was very easy. Granted, this was an early flight (got into MCO around 11am), and it was shortly after 9/11 when more people were apprehensive about flying.

We've flown into MCO on 12/25 and both into and out of it on 1/1 (different years:D ). I don't know about the parking garage but the airport was not deserted by any means but mcuh quieter than usual as I recall. We flew home on 1/1/2000 and some of our friends thought we were nuts. As if the plane was going to fall out of the sky!!:teeth:

I also flew into MCO on 1/1/2002 and found it very easy. Definitely one of the easier of the 15 times I've flown there!
