MCO - New Security Protocols?

I have seen "sped" up option at MCO. TSA can always pull someone for extra screening if they think you fit a profile (in the legal way). A family with kids does not hit the profile of a shoe bomber. Also when we were there, a dog walked up and down past everyone (bomb/drug sniffing). PLUS there could be additional security measures in place that we don't know about. Also I never pull out my liquids. Once in all the times I have flown did they pull my luggage for further inspection. The Xray can see in and through luggage very easily.

What nonsense!

I'm a 1K on United Airlines (100,000 miles flown a year and they aren't the only airline I travel). Not ONCE have I ever heard a TSA employee yell at anyone or be abusive. No, I don't like having to go through airport security, but describing all TSA employees as "thugs" is just plain wrong. They are mainly a group of government employees just doing their job.

I travel with kids a lot by myself and almost all TSA has always been overly friendly and polite to us (I assume they're overly friendly because of the kids, but who knows). Having said that the TSA at MCO has always been insanely rude and yes, have yelled at most customers going through their lane. There are always a couple who seem normal there, but for whatever reason, the TSA at MCO have almost always been unprofessional and very rude th o me and everyone around.

If the procedures they used are adequate security at times when the airport is innundated wth pax, why subject us to all the other procedures on other occasions when they have time on their hands?

Just wondering what traits would be used to profile a passenger as a terrorist?

You are well known here for disparaging the TSA, so I am sure you believe everything bad written about them is true.

Believe me or not; I don't care. I truthfully have never heard a TSA employee yell at anyone.

For those who have said here they are frequently yelled at/abused, perhaps you should examine your own behavior.

I don't need to. Read anything anywhere to know that airport security screeners yell at passengers. Even less than elite level frequent flyers hear it with some degree of regularity.

Very nearly every time we have been "yelled at" by TSA, it was at MCO. Once my husband got yelled at because there were no plastic bins in our line, and he got some from a different line. Another time, I got yelled at, sort of, because I was in the line next to the handicapped line, and it seemed like the TSA agent was trying to do the entire handicapped line before doing anybody in our line. The people in the non-handicapped line had flights to catch, too. Didn't say anything to her, but, she heard murmuring among ourselves, and got defensive, and asked me if I had a problem when it was my turn. I smiled at her and said, "no".

My experience is similar to Delilah's. The yelling by TSA agents has always been at MCO. At every other airport I've been through (and it's many), the TSA agents do not yell and lose their tempers like at MCO. It doesn't matter if I'm going through MCO on leisure or business travel. It truly is disheartening. If TSA would only give their MCO agents some training on customer service, that would be a welcome change.

I have no expertise in the area, just making a hypothesis. I have read different articles and interviews where people have said the security measures are a deterrent but also are there to a certain degree for appearances for the flying public. Unfortunately a determined person in any situation no matter the security may have success in breaching some form of security. As far as profiling a person that may have bad intentions there are a number of signs that would raise a concern

I move between Diamond and Platinum on Delta and have 2 Million Miles on Delta. I hear yelling weekly and sorry but screaming at Grandma "get out of that wheel chair" qualifies you for 'thug status' as do things like telling me "you know that I can arrest you for this corkscrew" (My only response to that statement was "please call your supervisor, I am not discussing this with you" That shut him up.)

Are there TSA officers who inflate their own importance, yell at passengers, and make up rules? Yes. However, that doesn't mean all TSA officers are like that or deserve to be lumped in with them. Would you say all police officers are racist and trigger happy based on the recent actions of a few?
