Hi

Has anyone used the double drop recently, just wondered if the 2nd carousel had speeded up as it took ages last year?

Hi

That would be a welcome miracle! :worship: Honestly I dont think we have waited less then 25 minutes for ours to make it to the other side. I am being very strategic in my packing and luggage pieces (number and type) this year so that I can actually take mine with me to the monorail. I understand that this could be tricky for some - or downright impossible, but this year DD is old enough to pull her own hand luggage up the escalator and I can follow her with a backpack and our hold luggage. Well that is the theory anyway. ;)

I doubt it lol! In May we didnt have the wheelchair, so were able to just take everything through with us to the monorail. September however, we are having the take the chair again because mum is not having a good time of it. We are trying desperately to think of a way to get around have to put the luggage through the double drop!

Nope :sad2:

In April we waited for 30 mins for the luggage to come across :scared1:

Next time I am trying to think of a way we can take it with us. I think I have a chance if I can keep our cases down to 2. Our problem will just be the esculator then as we will have DD in the pushchair, car seat in it's travel bag which can be worn as a rucksack, hand luggage plus cases. I am hoping DH can take the cases then I will take the rest hopefully :goodvibes

I think I am going to take my packed cases to my mum's house and ask if I can test my strategy on her narrow staircase. Mine is too wide so you don't get the full effect of the manoevre challenge.

Just by the escalator is a lift which we always use with DS in a wheelchair. Last time we had 3 large suitcases, 3 pieces of hand luggage and wheelchair, so you can see why the double drop sounds attractive. Actually we might as well get the car sorted first and then go collect the cases.

I never even knew there was a lift. Although I probably shouldn't use it when there are so many folk for whom an escalator is not an option. But I am intrigued now so I will be sure to look out for it next trip.

When do you leave? Didnt you book the Poly after much deliberation? That is my dream resort. I would love to stay there one day! :cloud9: In case we don't see you posting again before you go, safe travels and have a magical trip. :goodvibes

Thanks - never knew it was there.

Have a safe trip and hope Joshua enjoys it :goodvibes

Have a great trip :goodvibes.

We went in May and it took us nearly five hours to get out of the airport after landing :scared1:. We went in the far right lane at immigration but they were doing one family every 20 mins and two full virgin planes, a british airways plane and a lufthansa plane had all landed at the same time as well as all the internal flights, and some from mexico etc. We were in there for two hours, no air conditioning (weather was over 100 degrees), no drinks, no chairs, tired kids, smelly people, it was really bad and the only time in 15 trips it has ever been like that. It was also really funny because by the time we got customs the man said, "Do you have you white forms?", my Dad said, "Pardon?" and he said "Never mind sir, you and your family just go, go right ahead! It's ok! And keep on walking!" You would have thought in that time the luggage would be on the carousel? Nope :sad2:. So more waiting. Then we attempted to take our luggage with us on the escalator but the lady said we had to put it through second reclaim.

Good news? All our luggage came through within 30 minutes. EXCEPT my mum's case. It came all on its own 1 hour and a half later . We thought it had been stolen and went to report it twice but both times we were told it was coming and they were right. The reason given was that the workers are paid by the hour so they take all the time they want to take. Meanwhile my Dad was at Car Hire and we thought he would be finished by then. Nope. He took another hour because by this time more virgin flights had landed and everyone was in the same queue. (And I forgot to apply for Fastbreak :rolleyes1). By this time, we were fed up, hot, tired and hungry and getting angry with each other. Then we had problems with the hire car paperwork when we got to the kiosk driving out of the airport so we had to re-park and go back inside to the Budget representative !

But you want to know what? Next day we got up and started the holiday afresh and we had the best holiday so far! It was such a brilliant time despite the annoying start. I doubt your baggage reclaim experience will be anything like ours but I hope you do have as magical a time as us :goodvibes.

You would think that they would give priority to people with wheelchairs, infants and small children. I would hate to stand that long but I am blessed with good health and no complicated issues to have to deal with. Isn't it enough that some people have had their hands full for a longhaul flight?!

Landing, Immigration, double bag drop, customs & out of the airport within 45 mins last month ...... :thumbsup2

THB if it can be avioded then it is best to just take the cases.

Last year the longest we waited was to get our cases off the first belt. Seriously we walked off the plane right to the immigration desk I could not believe it in 4 trips that is the first time that has ever happened.

Then with some huffing and puffing we got the cases and ourselves up the escalator and then onwards to the wonderful ME. All in all about an hour give or take stop offs at other resorts.

Really hoping that this year is the same.

That is a record exit from MCO! Although, had I been able to manage our cases up the escalator, last year we possibly would have had the same. We also walked straight up to an empty desk, our bags were first out on the carousel, but then waited over half an hour for them to appear on the other side. Once we had them we were straight on the ME bus and dropped off second stop.

It depends where you sit on the plane, how long your luggage takes to come off the belt, how many other flights land when yours does ...... I suppose you could check the flight arrivals around that time on the MCO website to help hazzard a guess, but then it is very rare for flights to arrive at exactly the expected time so there are just so many variables.

well i was shocked to say the least. but we were late as we had to divert round one of the tropical storms so our 9 hour flight was nearly 11 got a bit freaked out when the pilot came on and said if you look out your window we are now flying over grand bahama!!
