about how long would you say from getting off plane to getting luggage and picking up rental car(on site) to get to wdw general area. will be meeting family members and would like to give them general idea of time. assuming plane is ontime. tia

I'd say it probably takes about 20mins from plane to baggage claim. How long it takes to get the rental car can vary by rental company and how long the line is. If you're using National and doing Emerald Aisle then we have found that is faster. I'd say it takes about 30mins drive time form airport to WDW area. Overall, I'd give yourself at least an hour from deboarding to arrival at WDW.

I would agree at least an hour, BUT if you are traveling anywhere near or at rush hours beware...
And depending on road work/repairs/closures/restrictions.

I am betting closer to 2 hours if you are going this time of year. If there is lightning/thunder they close down the trams between the terminals and baggage until they pass. Or if you are really lucky (insert sarcasm) you won't even be able to get off the plane until the cloud passes as they won't let you walk thru the metal ramps that hook between the plane and the gate!

Not to mention once you do get your car rental you may never get out of the actual airport ! I ALWAYS get stuck going round and round trying to get out of the maze the call an airport. Good thing I am on on Magical Express this time!

Traffic is another biggie in determining travel time. If you sneak around the back way (avoids some of the tolls too!) you may have better luck vs. the major highway!
