Anyone fly into MCO a day early, stay at an airport hotel and take a towncar straight to the port the next morning?

How did it work out for you?

Which hotel did you use?

What time did you schedule the towncar for?

Thanks in advance.

There are several hotels near the airport that offer shuttle service (free) from the airport. Many of them are available cheap from priceline. There is a Hyatt, the Renaissance, etc. It takes about an hour from the airport to the port (of course, a major accident can tie up the road.) We generally plan to be at the port plenty early. They will let you into the port area about 10:30, and boarding starts about 11:45. So, get up, have a nice breakfast, then leave. Alternatively, you can fly in and stay at the Radisson at Port Canaveral and take their shuttle to the port. The hotel is a bit more expensive, but the breakfast is complimentary and you are 10 minutes from the port.

Last year we stayed in the Marriot located in the terminal. It was clean and quite. Cost was around $100. It was great to get of the plane, get the luggage and be able to crash.

We did not use the towncar. For our two cruises we have used the Disney Bus.

We typically get an MCO area hotel via Priceline. We bid $25 to $28 for the highest star level and usually end up at the Marriott, although we've also gotten the Renaissance and the Holiday Inn Select. They are all in the same general area (near North Exit of airport) and within walking distance of food.
We use Happy Limo and usually have them pick us up around 10. We do a quick grocery stop at a convenience store on the way. It works out really well.

We've stayed at MCO for both of our cruises. The first time, I booked the Amerisuites NE using one of the discount hotel sites. So before I booked, I knew exactly which hotel I was getting. I think we paid about $69 and it included a pretty decent breakfast.

Second trip, we did priceline. I had several $29 bids rejected, and finally bid $33. We got the Marriott Renaissance. It was a VERY nice hotel. No breakfast, but we just went out to Steak and Shake and had lots of good food for less than $20.

We have always rented a car to get to the port. For our family, the flexibility worked out best. DH and I travel a lot, so we can usually get good rates with our Hertz gold programs. We went to DD before the first cruise, and stopped at Target before the second, so having our own car made that easier.
