I like sensible information on food packages, in the UK we get that and some really stupid allergy adive, such as this product may contain traces of nuts in a packet of peanuts, in a bottle of milk, this contains milk and in a cereal that is made where I work called Seriously Oaty this product contains oats!!!!!!!!!!! Why on earth do we need this surely you must know that a bottle of milk will contain milk and a breakfast called seriously oaty is going to have OATS in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to think it was funny, too, until I met my DH. He switched to diet sodas a long time ago and got to the point where regular sodas tasted bad to him. So just because he's drinking it, doesn't mean he "thinks" he's on a diet or anything.
That is me

Regular soda tastes gross to me. I only drink diet.

Of course I had to open this thread as I'm eating my boring salad. Now I really want a Big Mac and Fries! Sigh. McDonalds is not even close to being on my diet. Maybe someday :sad1: .

I'm sorry!! If it makes you feel any better the big mac as 3,000 calories and 400 grams of fat!!! (does that at least help a little??) :teeth:

Enjoy your salad!!

Is that all?..... Actually, that's kind of gross. I could easily stretch 400 grams of fat into 2 or 3 weeks worth! Oh well, maybe I'll sneak an Italian Ice with my diet Snapple later. :drinking:

1. I don't think the average person really knows just how bad Big Macs are nutritionally. Sure, they know they're not health food, but I think most people underestimate the huge amount of calories and fat.

2. I'm proud to say that I had no idea McDonalds was putting nutritional information on the packages. That must mean I have not had MickeyD food recently!

Have you seen the new McD commercial??

The Mom is waiting for her little girl to get dressed and the Dialog goes "It's more important What goes IN her tummy than on it[See child dressed-up in missmatched clothes and a boa and crown].

Next scene they are at McD's eating!!! What?? Kid has a happy meal?? Oh, hmmm, thats really making sure the child eats right??

It is such a self righteous commercial!!

Ya, we all get our kids Happy meals, but not for there nutritional value as this McD commercial would have you believe. What a joke!!
This is not a unique commercial. Other companies IMPLY that their food is healthy, but they never actually SAY it.

In this case, the commercial probably means that the kid will actually eat the Happy Meal, so something will be IN her stomach; whereas, if she were served carrots, they might stay on the outside of her.
In another commercial, they proclaim, "Soup is good food." Yeah, well, Campbell's soup isn't good food. It's chock full of sodium at the least. But what they say is true: Soup IS good food.
Pork: The other white meat. They want you to believe pork is as healthy as white-meat chicken; actually, it's only alike in color, not nutrition.
The one that bothers me most is Kraft Singles. They aren't cheese! Read the package: it doesn't say cheese anywhere -- "cheese food", maybe, but not cheese. The Singles are mostly vegetable oil -- yuck.
Then there's Wheat Bread. DUH. With the exception of a few specialty breads, ALL bread is made from wheat. They IMPLY that the stuff is whole-wheat, but actually it's just white bread with a little bit of brown food coloring.
Ditto for margarine spread, chocolate drink, and so many more.

You know, I think I'm in favor of more nutitional information on packaging. The standardized form forces the companies to be more honest.

eclectics....I don't know exactly how many calories and fat grams they have but I was trying to exagerate so that you would feel better about your salad... sorry it didn't come out like that!

hmmm...wonder what terribly unhealthy food I'm going to fix for dinner??? :rotfl: maybe hamburgers with thousand island dressing!!

I think ALL of the fast food places are required to do this soon. I think I read something about this a while back that they have to be in compliance by the end of the year. Maybe it was a dream but I think I read that. Anyway...the rest will soon follow anyway regardless if they are required to or not.

See how gullible I am! I have no idea how much fat the really bad stuff has. You should have left me in my fools paradise, cause now the real amount is going to look like a drop in the bucket and I'm going to be tempted :rotfl: ! Just kidding. I put my blinders on when I drive past, but I am now familiar with every kind of lettuce that is in existence!

I knew long before McDonald's put out the information that the food was less than healthy. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a fried patty covered in condiments with fries is probably not real healthy. :confused3 I still eat there. It's my choice. If I keel over, McDonalds is not to blame!!
