Mcdonalds lunch disappointment

I haven't had McDonalds in ages. Now I'm craving a burger.
Growing up in the 1960's, McDonalds, was a treat.
And for my kids, every Sunday lunch was McDonalds picked up on the way to visit their grandmother (my MIL). Fond memories.
No worse than Friday after school when we went to the other grandmother's house to visit ( my mom). Home made cookies and cake, and fudge, and potato salad made with real mayo. Kind of makes McDonalds look like the health option.:lmao:

It was a treat in the late '70's/80's as well. I hosted and attended a few birthday parties there, when I was a kid, & that & roller skating rink parties were definitely the biggest hits!

Honestly, I feel sick everytime I eat McDonald's, so I simply won't do it anymore.

But really, always take it back and ask them to make it like the picture. They CAN do it (and they usually do it in other countries), they just choose not to, probably for speed.

I have really gotten to the point that I do not care for McDonald's burgers. I don't mind the egg McMuffin. DH brought home a few burgers from there the other day as I have been sick. I thought about driving back to where it came from. That was about the worst burger ever. I am so done with them now.

i think dh's bun looks too big. lately around here, mcdonald's buns leave a smell on my hand that is so annoying that i have to wash it off. A yeasty, bready smell. I'm taking a break from mcdonald's just for that alone.

And don't get me started on kfc. Their half gallon ice tea is translucent brown water. And every single one of their sides was horrible for our last 2 orders. How can food like potato wedges, cole slaw, and corn become such an inedible embarrassment? And underdone brick-skits, not biscuits, fake gravy and fake mashed potatoes. There's not a thing at kfc that i would feed my family.

oh tag fairy!!!!!!

Well, there is always KFC's Double Down, if you are looking to switch your family to a low carb choice lol ;)

I would have to double my cholesterol meds to eat that! lol :lmao:

I remember the McDLT. It's was really just a burger with special styrofoam packaging. They kept part of the burger that was warm in one compartment and the other part in a cooler compartment. Then you'd assemble it when ready to eat. It was kind of an environmental disaster, and Berkeley, California outlawed styrofoam food containers from restaurants as a response.

However, separating the sections did keep the bun from sort of collapsing. It did tend to look pretty nice.

I'm not the only one here who likes McDonald's am I? I mean, I don't/can't eat it every day lest I way 200+ pounds, but I really do think that the quarter pounder with cheese and their fries are mighty tasty. Not exactly a steak house burger, but tasty nonetheless. :confused3

I'm with you. Shall we go get it now :goodvibes I also like Arby's Reuben sandwich and throw all cardiac caution to the wind occasionally.

Arby's was great. The last one here went belly up about 6 months ago. They were HUGE here 35 years ago, but nobody every seemed to go there anymore.

What I don't get is the BOOM in Mexican fast food places. If you are familiar with the intersection of Manzanita and Fair Oaks in Carmichael California, there are literally 4 Mexican restaurants in 1 block, 2 on one side of the road, 3 on the other.

I have always thought this should be illegal. Burger king doesn't even use the same lettuce as in the photographs.

All of that food looks gross to me. Even the fancy photographs because it's not what people real get. It's like Glamor Shots, no one really looked like that :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm not a Burger King fan but I've never seen a Whopper that looked like either picture. I wonder how truthful any of those pictures are.

I love that jalapeno burger - but I don't expect it to ever look like any kind of ad. I don't have much of a sense of taste so anything spicy wins me over. I had one for lunch today - at at $2.00, it's the perfect size for a lunch.

One year when we drove to Florida from NH we stopped at an Arby's. When we were done eating my youngest said to me that that was the best burger he ever ate. I looked at him weird and told him it wasn't a burger, it was roast beef. :confused3 He looked up at me and said "But I don't like roast beef." Cracked us up. I think he was like 5.
To this day still as soon as he gets here his first stop is an Arby's. When he flew down for a visit earlier this month he was thrilled he had a layover in Baltimore because there's an Arby's in the airport. :rotfl:

The FTC regulations say that it has to be the same ingredients. It doesn't say that they can't prepare it carefully. They do all sorts of things, such as use a fresh patty rather than the frozen ones they use in restaurants. They could carefully select the buns. Maybe hand-prep the patties. Then they'll carefully select and hand-cut the lettuce rather than pull out pre-cut lettuce from a bag like they'd do at a real location. Then have someone slowly hand apply the condiments.

How much do you think one of these things would cost if they hired a professional food stager to do this, especially with all the stuff tossed.
