Anyone driving one of these little beauties?

I have been wanting a minivan ( yes I know it is crazy for a 43 yr old to want one LOL) My DH is not giving in at all .
He bought me my Mercedes 300 about 3 years ago when it came out ,I had no idea that trying to get my Grandchilds carseat and her stroller and any little thing at all would be this crowded.

He looked at the GLK 350 and said maybe this would be meeting in the middle . I like the way it looks but to be honest it does not look like it is that much more room .

So if you have one do you wish you had went with something bigger?

TIA

I drove one for a little while. I liked it a lot. My kids liked the back seat and storage was never a problem.

How big is the stroller and how strong are you? The big advantage of the minivan vs an SUV is the low liftover height to get things into the back. We had an SUV along these lines for a while and I HATED getting things in and out because you had to lift things pretty high to get them in and if you have a lot of "stuff" reaching to the back of the storage space if you are not tall is an issue. I basically had to climb into the SUV to get to anything that was not right in front. If you are 6' tall, not an issue.

Mine ;) look up the list price and you will see why he gets a say LOL. We also trade off cars a lot and he drives a big Chevy truck . I guess he really doesnt like Mini vans  years ago before he started buying me MB I drove a PT Cruiser he would not drive it either he hated it

I am 5'9 and the stroller is pretty light is is one of those Maclaren strollers I learned about here on the the DIS . I didnt think about having to get up in it to get stuff out . I have a bad back LOL . It does not look that tall though . Thanks for giving me some insight on that , I will have to go and

It is not tall. Drives very much like a car and I've done the mini van, station wagon, big suv thing.

The only complaint I have is it made by butt hurt. No other say to say it, really. I previously broke my tailbone, and it is prone to aches now, but driving that car inflamed it. My DD learned to drive in it and she thought it was very comfortable, as did my DH. She is hoping for that as her first car (Not going to happen, btw!)

So I called the dealership today to ask about driving one for more then 15 min because of the Butt thing and the guy laughed at me LOL .

But I dont want to buy one and have my butt hurt I also have broken my tailbone and know how bad it aches without a bad seat under it .

If the car dealership won't let you have one for a few hours, call around to some car rental places in your area and see if they have one and rent it for a day. We have done this with cars we have thought about buying (mainly taking them on LONG road trips).

Great idea ! If I had done that with the Pt Cruiser I would never have bought it . The road noise was crazy the 1st year they made them , it was a cute little car but mine spent most of its time in the shop

I wonder if we can find one to rent for Disney World in Oct . We are planning on going to the show my SIL the ocean and that is a couple of hours of driving right there

Sounds like he controls the money? How about he gives you a budget, you buy what you want, within his budget?

The seat "feels" really comfortable. It was just after a time the 'area' ached all the time and the GLK seat was the only new to the mix.

It was a nice car. I don't think you will be disappointed. Test drive it a few times and see if you notice any aches that pop up afterwards. Hopefully you'll be fine.

I have very few complaints about it.

One, I had to get used to the headrest. I feel it is forward just a bit too much.

Two, the runner. When it rains outside, the runner is out some and when you get out of the car, your leg gets wet and could get dirty from the dirty water there if you are not careful.

The back seats are roomy and comfortable but when you open the door - I don't think there is much space/room to get out. Not sure if I am explaining this right.

It is a very smooth ride and I have gotten a lot of comments. I actually did not want it but my hubby did and I am the one that drives it. I am a bit on the frugal side and would have like to have the extra $100 or whatever in my pocket. It's a lease so we will decide again in two years.
