We customized our resort MB's and put in our AP numbers on MDE. We had to call Disney about Fastpass+ and she told us we should order our Magic Bands for our APs also because this would show discounts. We are only doing the one trip this year before our APs expire. I do not understand why we need 2 sets. Won't they both have same info.

She may be saying you would want to link your AP to your MDE account so if you search for a room reservation any AP discount would show up for you. Other than that, if you were to get MB's for your AP's they would be linked to your account the same way as your MB's from a resort stay. There is no difference between a MB for a resort stay and a MB for an AP, you don't need two sets but Disney will send them to you if you want them.

Our AP were linked to our MDE and resort reservation right away. She still said we should order a second set of MB. I really thought this was a waste.

You don't have to have anything you don't want. We have 3 sets, and now the AP set. Makes it nice to change the colors!

If you have 4 sets, all the bands would have the same info right? So you could bring all to change your colors or just one.

Robo, do you know if they are going to actually stop giving out the RFID AP cards? That's the only reason I can think of why they created the discount card.

Because you get the same discount just by showing your AP card. So it is not needed.

This is not necessarily true. We were at CSR in February and were refused the AP discount at the Pepper Market because we did not have the discount cards. We did not get our discount cards until the end of March when we got our AP magic bands.

That was an problem at the Pepper Market, not with the AP.

That doesn't even make sense. The discount cards didn't even ship out until mid-March. Are you saying that you showed them your AP card and they wouldn't accept it for the discount?

There will "always" (a DISNEY "always" means a least "for awhile") be flat plastic tickets (AP or MYW) for guests who do not want to use the MagicBands.

If you renewed online, like us, you don't get a new AP card. At least we didn't. So the discount card is not useless to us. Maybe to you, but not some.

Either way, OP... you don't need both sets if you really don't want them. But they do send the 2014 passholder slider and discount card with the band for the AP. But of course you don't have to have both.

I just checked the list of restaurants that offer the discount and pepper market is not on it. That's probably why you were refused a discount.

Oh, good to know! I guess I won't throw them out. :)

I would definitely not throw them out. I'm sure if you went to Guest Relations and asked for an actual AP card, they would give you one. I don't know. I would think they're trying to phase those out by doing this.

We have AP cards that we use for the discounts and parking, which is why we were like "huh?" when we got the discount card. I just used my AP card on Sunday for a merch discount. No one asked for my discount card.
