Mazes are closed

I just got the boot from VMK Babs. She said the mazes are closed now.

Oh DARN, that is why the line I am in started moving more quickly!
I was not meant to EVER do this maze I guess.
I sure hope they do eventually sell the maze prizes!!

Yesterday I tried from open to close. Got into the medium maze five times and even finished once but lost connection before my name was written down.

Today I tried from open to close, got in eleven times. Eight disconnects and three times ended up at the door instead of the maze. Half of these were done at my Mothers during Thanksgiving dinner.

Nothing for me after 16 tries I only wanted the Master Gracy Pin. I really wonder how many made it through.

Thanks for posting that they are closed, I was still in line.

Me too! Sometimes I wouldn't even get to the 'start' teleporter, LOL
Every single time I tried to do the medium maze I lost my connection!
I really wanted that pin, oh well.

After spending all day long trying to get past the first room in the medium maze I must say that there is something seriously wrong with that setup.

I write programs too, have even written a few games in the past. This is not rocket science, really it isn't. You need to have the resources to handle the load or events like this will never work.

I like to use neopets.com as an example. I have been playing on that site for over 3 years now and have never experienced any kind of problem like I've seen on vmk.

The number of users on that site and the number of games and places to visit make vmk look small time. The major difference I have seen is vmk chose to run the games on the server side, where neopets runs them on the client side which allows you to log back in and send the score in to get your credits if you disconnect, but vmk did not provide the servers to handle the load.

I'm running off topic here I think so I'll leave it at that.

Oh yeah, I was there! I was/am so upset I had to bust out the red face smiley! I am not going to get into my rant because so many people have already expressed exactly how I feel. BUT nobody has stated that they jumped into a 170 person line slightly before 9 pm only to reach the maze room at 9:59 pm and move to be 5th from the front of the line right at 10 pm. THEN to be told by VMK_Babs that the maze is closed and all people will be boot.
What the hay is that all about??? At the very least she should have blocked the doorway off and allowed those in the queue to proceed though the maze. And I say this only because of all the issues this weekend. And yes, I did send VMK a lovely book written by yours truly in regards to the above mentioned.

So when is that blue dress coming out?

I thought that by trying again later I might have a better chance of getting through. I made it into the medium room 5 times only to get disconnected every time I hit the room full of chairs.

I finally thought I got through but then this message popped up

^^ I got that message too. After my son got the boot, VMK_Babs left. I got in with my own character and was telling others that it was closed since so many people were telling people to move so they could get in. I got the VMK Staff Alert, followed by the boot.

I do feel sorry for staff, they did work hard today and took a lot of abuse.....

BUT.....

the whole thing was poorly planned, poorly managed, just poorly everything!

I tried to complete the mazes this weekend. And, like so many others, I was continually disconnected as I either waited in line to enter the maze room, or, on the three occasions where I was actually able to enter the maze room, as I worked on the maze. Well, I had waited in line for about 40 minutes for the easy level maze. Got in, said hello to CL_Nedakh, entered the maze, and made my way through to the end room. As I entered the last teleporter to the end room, I saw that there was a wait of about 60 people to enter! So, I wait...and wait...only to get disconnected as the 16th person in line!
So, I decide to log on again, and wait in the line for the end room. People had said that the cast members in there were very nice, and if you told them that you had gotten disconnected, they would help you. So, I get in line for the end room...behind 58 people. And I wait...and wait...I finally get in, and see that VMK_Phinny is there. I say to her "I need help please!" and tell her what had happened. She ignores me. It dawns on me that there are people waiting in a line and telling Phinny where they got disconnected from the game, and she is entering this so they can get their prizes. So, I get into the line. As I get to the fourth person from the front, Phinny states "This line will close in a minute" Then, not 10 seconds later, she says "Line closed". I tell her that this is not fair, and she boots me.
Now, I don't know about you, but this is COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR. I am not a child, so this is not the end of my world, but imagine what that would feel like to an 8 year old (VMK's target audience)? I do not need the prize. I just feel that, to have somebody spend two hours SEVERAL times over a weekend to try to play a game in this "event", only to be unable to play at all, and then to be treated like this by somebody who is supposed to help is absolutely RIDICULOUS. Phinny should be reprimanded for this behavior. I realize this is a free game, but I have made several trips to Disneyland to play the quests and take the tour, and I spend A LOT OF MONEY when I go. I do not deserve to be treated this way. I feel badly for all the little kids who played this weekend and were either unable to get through the maze, or met up with Phinny and were treated like I was. Not cool, VMK!
On a side note, GREAT Halloween decorations, though.

I hadn't thought about that, but you've hit the nail on the head. I'm far to old to be hanging out in a virtual Disney park, but I enjoy it in lieu of being there (being a 15 hour flight for me to get to one ). As such, between the time difference and the many other world-wide visitors, I'm going to miss out on a great many events at VMK.

But as you say, it is the kids who suffer most. I found it difficult to access the park at ALL most of the weekend, and didn't even come close to the maze. I went off and did other things, but I can imagine how upset and frustrated a kid would be.

On a side note, GREAT Halloween decorations, though.

Agreed. I just left Disneyland Resort, CA as they were decking out the Haunted Mansion with pumpkin heads, so it is nice to get an idea of what it may have been like.
