Maybe we're not as rich as DVC thinks we are!

Has anyone else noticed that tickets are still left for the member homecoming? I hope sales continue to lag so DVC will not try to hit us quite as hard ($) next time!

I am not surprised that there are tickets left one bit. When it was first announced I did a poll to see how many were going. Only 12% of the replies said that they were planning to attend. I think that they need to announce it further in advance, and not charge as much. If it was closer to the $200 range, I think I would have tried harder to make arrangements to go.

I think the price is high, especially when it's a DVC PR event. They are hoping to get members excited about SSR to add-on.

I think members woudl be more excited about buying at SSr if the event cost them a littel less? Yes?

Not to mention most of us are AP holders. It makes no sense. They should have been able to figure that one out. They should have held a private party and charged accordingly like any other special/holiday event. For most it would be like paying twice. I don't think it's because people don't want to go.

They did end up offering Annual Passholder pricing, but the price reduction is only $50. For $249 (adult) Annual Passholders can take advantage of all of the benefits except the park passes.

Gee, I wish I could get a 2-day hopper with one Plus for $50. :)

If they had gotten the price down to about $175-180 per adult, we would have considered moving our trip up a week and attending. But I just can't justify paying $500 for DW and I to take advantage of the meager benefits this event appears to offer.

I'm planning on going, got the room reservations, but I just hate to part with my money up front like this....so I'm playing the game and waiting and waiting...and if I by chance get locked out...I guess I'll be spending one of those days over at Universal :)

It would have also been nice if they would have thought many of us travel with children. They probably would have gotten more sales had they had a special DVC member character lunch with Mickey and Minnie or Princess and Adventurers. An extra Fantasyland EE day. We wouldn't have gone regardless, but when I looked at the schedule there was no value there for us - our kids are in bed at 8:30 every night and I'm not hiring a sitter on top of that cost.

We would have gone if it weren't so expensive. We'll be at WDW anyway.

The main reason we're not going is definitely cost.

By coincidence we will be there that week. I wish it were cheaper. But I really have no regrets.

Too expensive for all 3 of us. I might have sprung for it for DS only (he's 21), but we're not getting there until after it's all over.

We will be there the week of the homecoming. We do not have AP's, but we have park passes left from a recent trip. I wouldn't have minded attending one or two of the events seperately, for a special ticket cost,(kinda like MVMCP) but the cost for the 2 days was way too much for our family of 4.

We were really excited when we first heard about it. Our kids will be out of school, we have AP's, and we hadn't planned a summer trip yet. After seeing the cost we definately were turned off. Looks like we're heading to the Keys this summer instead of Disney. I hope those that go have a great time though ( and write TR's!!).

For us it was nothing to do with cost. I am far from a millionair, but an extra $100 in the grand scheme of a WDW vacation just does not bother me.

It is about our schedule. We plan our trips 11 months in advance, as to ensure we get the proper vacation time from work. Unless DVC plans these events earlier, or we just happen to be there, we will have to pass. :(

I think the problem may be that they failed to consider their audience... For $299 to get...theme park entry for two days and plus entry...value about $100. For the other $150 you are getting a dance, a dinner, a lunch and a dessert plus an exclusive late night in the park. Hmmmm...not to denigrate the package but it sounds a lot like something they might offer a corporation...and of course that isn't what DVC members are.

I think most would have preferred to buy their own theme park days and then buy a pass to the special events...and those events could have been held elsewhere...Old Key West, Downtown Disney, Pleasure Island or Boardwalk...given that its May how about Typhoon Lagoon? some place where it wouldn't be necessary to pay a lot of cast members overtime to staff the rides ...all Disney would have needed to do is make the area special for the members....which is why I like OKW for this. A nice gift for members might be an all day fastpass to the rides of their choice.
