Just got back from family vacation at WDW. Originally had 5 nights at BWV with a 2 bdrm and 2 studios - this was the year to bring the "whole" family and the GVs were slated for rehab at this period when I made the ressies.

A few months out I decided we might need a couple of extra days to get some real vacation time before the rest of the family arrived. BWV was full, so I booked OKW for 2 nights. After 5 days with the extended family, I decided I'd need another couple of vacation days to recover (but that's another story:eek: ). On exactly one day's notice (not even that, as it was past working hours for MS) the staff at OKW was able to book us a room at OKW for 2 more nights!

Rooms were awesome! We had a 2 bdrm and it was so large - I think the kitchen was better equipped than BWV, also. We rode the boat to DD, and truly enjoyed the time there. That resort is so beautiful and peaceful. We bought at BWV for location, but truly, the bus service at OKW was just great. Maybe we were lucky, but it was much easier than driving our rental car!

I hate to admit it, but DH and I were actually discussing how hard it would be to get a resale at OKW! That place is addictive. Even the teenagers claimed they liked it - of course that may have been because in an OKW 2 bdrm they each got a real bed!

Our BIG family(13 and growing, 2 new dgk by Xmas!!) trip every other T'giving is to OKW.The rooms are big enough for all of us to gather and by bringing in the balcony table we all sit together for Turkey dinner. We go to BWV for shorter stays.
The Beauty of DVC is we can have any kind of vacation we want!
Glad you had such a great time.

We own at OKW so that probably makes us a bit bias, but we love staying there too. On this last trip we were suppose to finish off the trip with 3 days at St. Pete Beach, but we changed our minds and decided to try to get into OKW for the last few days of our trip. We got a 1-bedroom at OKW only 2 days out. And the room was even ready when we checked in at 8:30am. It was funny too because we were in building 48 the week before in a grand villa and this time we ended up in building 47 right next to it. Love that OKW!

I sometimes think that the relaxing effect OKW offers sneaks up on the people who vacation there. We're all under so much tension and stressed that when we get to OKW we're nearly overwhelmed by the peace and calm that the resort exudes.

I waitlisted for accommodations at either VWL or BWV in early December, for a change, but truly, if the waitlist doesn't come through, that will still be OK.

Glad to hear you had a great trip! Did you stay at BWV for the first 5 nights or did you spend the entire time at OKW? I was a little confused when reading your post.
I am sure you will be able to buy a resale at OKW without a problem and if you want, would be able to sell your BWV contract with no problem either. There are currently listed on timeshare.com, 14 resales at OKW with only 4 pending sales and there are 7 resales at BWV with 5 pending sales. Good luck!

I was waitlisted at the BWV for my trip beginning next Saturday, thinking that it would be easier for me and my son without a car. I was actually relieved when it didn't come through because I was second guessing myself for weeks.

Looking forward to that pontoon boat to the marketplace. :)

We stayed at OKW Thursday night and Friday night - had not decided to come down early until about 4 months out and OKW was all that was available. Then we spent 5 nights at BWV with the whole family. On the fifth day I decided I was really in need of a couple of more days (non commando style) vacation. So we moved back to OKW for Thursday and Friday night. We were really lucky they had a room available. Not only was it available, but it was ready when we checked in at 11:30 AM!!

I WOULDN'T go to the expense of selling your BWV pts. and buying into OKW........the commissions for sales, at least via brokers, are STEEP. You shouldn't have much difficulty booking OKW at the 7 month window EXCEPT for GVs or holiday periods. You could always book BWV at the 11 month window and then try to get the same dates at OKW at 7 months.........

I get so relaxed at OKW that you nearly have to drag me to a park sometimes!! We still haven't bothered to go to AK!! Glad you found you enjoyed it as well.

That boat ride to Downtown Disney is one of my favorite anctivities. Shopping and relaxation in one swoop! But then, I enjoy riding the boats from/to Poly/MK and Fort Wilderness. Just love hearing that water lap against the boat and the gentle rocking in the Florida sun. I always hope the boats are fairly empty to I can stretch out a little in the back.

I'm glad you discovered what OKW has to offer. It is fabulous and Rich is right about that. But, Rich is wrong when he trashes BWV. There is a time and place for both resorts and they are both fabulous. :) :) Aren't we all lucky?

WE just spent the week at OKW and I just loved it . I am supposed to stay at VWL in Jan and i am considreing a change to OKW. It was so relaxing. Barb

ah yes the the which resort I'm gonna stay at issue. I to love OKW (don't own there but have stayed there). I prefer BWV. But it does depend on (at least imho) what kind of vacation you are looking for.
If I want to hit the parks with all are friends and stay out late its BWV. If I want to relax its OKW or VB. All places are great (I have not stayed at BCV or HH). It all depends what you are looking for....variety is the spice of life

Actually, I think I have to defend Rich here. I really think his tongue is firmly in cheek when he "trashes" BWV. His comments are often so over the top (for instance "miles to the elevator") that I'm sure he's teasing us BWV lovers!!

Rich is wrong when he trashes BWV

Rich never trashes BWV, I simply tell the truth. The units are tiny compared to OKW, the walks in the hallways can be agonizing, the point schedule is way higher than OKW, the dues are much higher also.

I can find some fun ways to point this stuff out to people, but to call the truth 'trashing' is just not right.

I often use the disclaimor: Many people find that the location of BWV and the Boardwalk area itself are worth dealing with the tiny units, high point schedule and expensive dues.

What is trashing about that? Its just the truth.

TRUTH?????? Where is the TRUTH in your comment about cleaning the BWV units with ONE PAPER TOWEL? Or your comments about the hallways being 1.2 miles??? How often are you accurate in ANY of your "TRUTHS" about BWV's??? ALL of your comments about BWV are YOUR BIASED OPINION!!!!!!!!! You are one of the few posters who can take a BCV vs BWV and turn it into "Why I LOVE OKW" , the "Only true DVC Resort" ( another truth???)
Say what you want , but be honest about what you do, YOU BASH ALL other DVC resorts, but your favorite one to bash is BWV.

This is too funny, the hallways are agonizing, Don't work out or walk much do you? Yes the Okw rooms are a little larger. Just like Vistana or Orange Lake or any other time share resort OUTSIDE of Disney it does have lower dues, because the resort doesn't offer anything like, entertaining pools, numerous restaurants, night life, that big thing located within walking distance or boat ride to a park, or that deluxe resort feeling.

It's good you love your resort because of the cheap dues, cheap point prices for rooms and larger rooms like timeshares outside of Disney, good for you. We like the rooms that cost a little more, sorry, is that so bad? If you don't like it, Don't stay there! This mine is bigger, but cheaper thing should tell you something. Why is it cheaper? Why do you feel the need to sell your resort so much? It's a nice place for people who like to relax and watch bunnies and stuff.

If Peter are so offended by Rich's comments, err, sense of humor, why would Peter choose to respond in an similarly offensive manner?

The little bunnies comment is as comical/untruthful as the 1.2 miles comment.

Hey, everyone needs to lighten up. Both resorts offer unique qualities.

I think everyone needs to get over it. This topic is getting old and Rich is being dragged into something which he did not initiate -

BWV's rooms are smaller.
OKW's rooms are larger
BWV points and dues are higher
OKW points and dues are lower
Both are classified as deluxe resorts
Both are located within Disney property
OKW requires bus or car to get to the parks
BWV provides bus /boat transportation
OKW is not within walking distance of the parks
BWV is within walking distance of Epcot and MGM
And, SAB may not be used by anyone staying at either
