... but does anyone know any jobs that hire 14 year olds?

I'm turning 14 this summer, and my family is going through a pretty bumpy ride right now with money flow. So instead of pestering my parents all the time for cash, maybe I could earn mine fairly.
I know I'm pretty dang young for a job, but even something small would be nice.
Who knows, maybe I can even loan my own parents some of my money.

Inspired by Jenny's doubleshift thread.

So, does anyone know any company name or anything that would hire?

Its getting harder now-a-days cause most places want people who are out of school, but do you have any waterparks around you? I know some places will hire lifegaurds at 14 as long as they are trained.

Also vet clinics who want kennel assistants is also a good one.

Good luck.

That'd be nice if I had training XD

Hmm... the vet one sounds good. I may try that.

Thanks :)

No, I'm sorry no places around here hire 14 year olds. I've heard that McDonalds in other states hire at 14 though.

Babysitting is always an option. :)

Yup just go into any random vet clinic and offer your help. They may start you off low, but as you learn more they raise your pay.

I work as a kennel assistant right now at a vet clinic. But i'm also going to school to be an RVT, so they do pay me a little bit more.

You can try to volunteer at your local library.

My b-day is in the middle of summer, so I'll be 15 on July 30. I might try to go for my local library's reading program.

My friend Katrina got a summer job husking corn, rotfl.
So something farm-related.
I got offered a job working at a berry farm. Actually pretty well-paying, all things considered.

Not like I'm gonna take it lol

try small local pizza shops or ice cream shops...i live in a relatively small town but they hire 14 and up and make pretty decent money...chains are where you wont be able to work for the most part but in a family owned business you shouldn't have much trouble

Why not babysit? That's what I did... and still do on occasion. Make some flyers and post them up around you neighborhood, or at your school. =) This would probably be your best choice... Hope this helps!! =)

Babysitting is a great option.
The work isn't physically that hard, and it's generally pretty good pay.
Plus it teaches you a lot of tolerance and patience.
Believe me, you'll need those traits if you're dealing with kids all day!

If you're not interested in that, you can ask around if any kids in your area need tutoring.
Or try something innovative like a pet-sitting service.
Think outside the box and you'll have a job in no time :]

Im 13, and i have a job.
i babysit a lot. &&
im a ref for soccer :]
15 $ a game isnt bad at all.!

I was in your same boat and couldn't find anything...

Here the youngest anyone will hire you is 15.5 and thats the movie theater...Sooo i'll get a job this summer there

Some grocery stores hire 14 year olds.
My store hires 14-15 year olds as baggers, with restrictions. I think they can only work a certain number of hours/week between like 12-5 or something. And during the school year 14 year olds can only work on weekends. 15 year olds can work more.

Also, babysitting is a good one! Maybe train to be a lifeguard this year, and next year you could get a job doing that? I've heard it pays very well. You could also do swimming lessons for your local rec. dept. if that's available.

I believe McDonalds, Dairy Queen and most fast food joints do.

I know here Tim Hortons does, and I know a guy who's been working at Dairy Queen for a while (he only turned 15 like last month), and one of my good friends works at Burger King (and she had the late shift thing signed by her mother, so she can work until 2 am) and she used to work at A&W.

Most people I know who have jobs work in fast food places.
Right now I've been looking for a job, and it's hard to get a job if you're not bondable (16). I wanted to work at Homesense, but when I got the application it said you had to be 16 to work there.
And I applied at a home deco store, and got a call saying that she may consider me for a group interview. But I did not get another call, and I didn't get to go in. And I'm almost certain it's the fact that I'm not very old, and I have very little experience.

I know in Florida, you can work at Publix and my Friend work's at an Ice Cream Parlor.

Maybe google "Jobs available in Your Town Here for 14 year old"?

Really? I thought you had to be 15 to work at Publix. Well that's something for me to consider in a little while.

Different states will differ. EVERYWHERE around here requires 16 or older but I know places in other states will hire under 16.

My town has many family owned businesses. The only places that AREN'T are Arby's, McDonald's, Walmart, and HyVee. This is a really strong Dutch community and all the buildings and such are based around it.

Many of the places here are 14 and up to work at because they ARE family owned and then their kids and their friends can work there.

I'm thinking about applying for a job at Pizza Ranch this fall where a guy I'm sort of friends with that's a year older than me, his dad runs it.

That or I'll apply at the new Sports place. It's a bar but it's also got a dining side and there are a few 8th graders that do work on the bar side.

For now I'm babysitting. And we just moved to this neighborhood a few months ago. The other day one neighbor (she has a 2 year old and a 8 month old baby..both girls) and she asked my mom if I was old enough to babysit. My mom told her that yes, I was going to be 14 in the early fall and that I was Red Cross registered.

My advice to you, is if you like kids, sign up for an American Red Cross babysitting class. It takes about 4 hours and you learn CPR, how to take care of babies, and it's really educational. I did it with 3 friends 2 years ago. I think a lot more parents feel better leaving their children with someone who is trained to do this rather than some random girl on the streets.

Good luck! :goodvibes

try working at a local store

big chains/companies may not hire at a young age

This is true. My daughter will be 14 this summer and she is going to apply to be a bagger at our local grocery store. She is also volunteering at our Zoo.:thumbsup2
