maybe i misunderstood my on/offsite fp+.....

I had a not so similar issue that resulted in the same thing. I was trying to add an onsite day to my existing onsite reservation at yacht club...the day before we were originally planning to arrive. Well that day was sold out online as was the rest of my dates at YC. Even though I was willing to stay at akl for that first night and transfer to YC the next day I was told I would have to activate my tickets when we arrived and would not be able to book fp for that first day in advance. Well after 1 hour on the phone, they were able to break out my tickets from the package...then the system was down...then guest services got involved...end result was I was able to book my fastpasses for that first day. The point is I believe guest services can basically hold your existing room reservation when they do the cancel in order to break out tickets so some random person who happens to be online doesn't snatch up your room since it is sold out. At least that's how the cm explained it to me. I could be wrong but am sure it can be fixed. Also I was dealing only with onsite stay and was still in the cancellation window so that may make a difference.

Our cancellation window has a month left, so it's not that we're in that far yet.

I think what makes the most sense, and would be the easiest thing to do, is to see if we can drop the *tickets* from the package (even though I was able to snag ALL of the fastpasses I wanted) and keep the room, THEN buy our tickets again (probably from undercover tourist) and re-make all of the fastpasses. That would, theoretically, get my 60 rolling window in place, correct?

Buy the new tickets FIRST (and link them to your MDX account.)
THEN, cancel the package tickets.
No lost FP+ reservations.

If you do this the other way around, you will not lose your fastpasses. Buy and link tickets from Undercover Tourist or wherever first. THEN drop the tickets from the package. You will not lose your fastpasses that way.

Good to know. I'm still waiting to hear back from my TA. I'm seriously wondering if this is something I should just call Disney about myself because I'm tired of waiting for an answer. All of my stress about this trip, aside from the traveling portion, was supposed to be OVER by 8am. Not even close.

Disney won’t discuss the details of the reservation with anyone other than the TA.

Besides, the issue you’re trying to overcome is really a loophole. I doubt they’ll provide much sympathy.

I want to make sure I have all my bases covered before I have the TA start to cancel/re-book things:

1) Which is safer: re-booking the current room without tickets, or booking a *new* room [only] and canceling the old reservation?

2) Can I buy my tickets from Undercover Tourist, get an e-ticket, and link that to my MDE before my existing package/tickets are cancelled and still keep all of my FP+ I already made this morning? AND keep my 60 day rolling window open? Or do I *have* to buy them through disney to keep the 60 days? (I think I know the answer but want to be sure)

3) We will still get magic bands because of the resort stay? (These aren't a big deal, it's more of a knowing what to expect thing.)

2. As long as tickets are linked to your MDE, all FPs remain intact.

Any room reservation benefits from the rolling 60-day window.

3. Yes

I just sent this link because I feel like I need to have something to show how they think it should work is not *actually* how it IS working. https://disneyparksmomspanel.disney...tay-nights-offsite-nights-onsite-park-318970/ the 3rd paragraph basically sums it up. AND, if they're talking about a "3 day rule" for using your tickets before check-in, we can't even go to the parks with our big group without purchasing NEW tickets.

I don't know if this will make you feel better or worse but getting FPs a few days out isn't that much different then 30 days. Just did 30 days this week for a friend and for the most part what was available was what you can get day of. Maybe a couple of things, but it isn't going to be the difference between a good park day or not.

I have an upcoming split stay. 2 nights room only, then 6 night package with free dining and 8 day hoppers. My TA was sure I couldn't use those tickets until my package started. I told her I could activate them early when we got there, but she seemed to never have heard of that. She has been a Disney TA for many years, how is this possible?
Like some PPs have said, Disney has some convoluted policies, but if you're a Disney TA, you should know this stuff.
