:wave2: We (me, DH and DD) are booked for Sept 17-24 at CSR but I keep wondering if there is any possibility of an upgrade that could get us to either the Boardwalk or Yacht and Beach Club for the same price. Anyone ever gotten a deal that got you into a deluxe resort for the price of a moderate. And, would either of these really be all that much better than the CSR? I know we've got until Sept but I want as much bang for my buck as I can get. Suggestions? :confused3

If they come out with any codes or AP rates, (maybe AAA rates), you might be able to get the deluxe resorts for less. As much as you are paying at CS? Don't know about that.

Sometimes you can jump to a higher resort class at the same price with an "upsell" or "manager's upsell" -- you can always ask for it, but I wouldn't count on it as they aren't all that common.

Last spring I received a postcard offering something like this:

"Now that you've experienced Disney Moderate resorts, how would you like to try a Deluxe for the price of a moderate?" (maybe not word for word, but you get the picture)

I guess I got lucky. In reality Disney probably identified me as a Moderate Resort frequenter, and hoped I would become a Deluxe resort frequenter. It's pretty smart business really, and it kinda worked. I stayed at the AKL & WL last year.

The fine print on the card was that it I was able to get Standard rooms at WL or AKL for the price of a moderate (about $115). Even with Standard rooms, that was still an unbelievable deal, especially since I was upgraded to Savannah view at AKL. If I wanted BWI, YC, or BC it would still have been discounted, but it would have cost more.

in 2001 we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge courtyard view at less than we had originally booked at the Caribbean Beach

I would say that the chances of getting the Boadwalk or Yacht and Beach Club for the price of a moderate is slim to none. I've stayed at the Beach Club for around $130 in 2003, but that was when they were renovating POFQ, and they upgraded me to the BC for an extra $30 per night. Stuff like that happens on occassion, but not very often.

As others have said, you can sometimes get the AKL or the WL for less than rack rate of a moderate.
