If people are hearing something already from Disney (ie, Acceptance, Rejection - not a pending letter) that interviewed well after you, I'm talking a few weeks - Is that bad..?

Because now people who have interviewed in April are hearing things, and I am not sure. I interviewed on March 15th, I got a pending letter about 2 1/2 weeks ago.. So no rejection/acceptance yet, but I guess it it still good it is pending... But still is it bad people are getting accepted so quickly, while I got the pending letter?

I thought my interview went well...

Now however there is a problem with my school and the CP... In semesters past, they would have the presentations, were fully supportive of kids doing it, would send 25 kids down a semester, and so on... But this next semester (of course the one I want to go down there on) they changed their minds (within a matter of the past month) Basically They said apparently the program has been for the past few years "jeopardizing the students ability for graduating and getting their degrees." Something about the numbers "haven't been good." They still support a post-baccalaureate program though. Just not the one during. I'll have to take a leave of absence to do the CP, and that is A-OK with me... I am probably transferring to a new school anyway. Mine's a joke as far as I am concerned.

Now another (maybe stupid) question is... do you think the reason I am still pending is because of the school issue???

:thanks:

Well I haven't done the program before, but I don't think it is because of your school, some people have done the program before and their schools have a) never heard of the program and b) not been supportive of students doing it before.

If you are worried about it contact your recruiter and tell them that you are still very interested in the program.

I don't think it is an issue that other people have heard back, I haven't really figured out how they are sending out letters but I won't worry too much about it. I know I was worried about getting my letter too, but you'll hear soon!

that could possibly be it i went to niagara u and they didnt support this program at all(i couldnt go anyway cause on scholarship for hockey) but i recently transfered about a year and a half to stockton college in nj and my first semester they had a presentation and flyers every where but two semster later now they have nothing....it also could be they want to accept you but they have no roles avaiable that you chose and they are waiting to see who accepts and declines

I applied for 5 roles:
  • Attractions
  • Character Attendant
  • Main Entrance Ops
  • QSFB
  • FSFB

Is that not good? I mean I said I'd prefer to do something else than work with food, but if it was a matter of not getting in I would def. do it.

I called my recruiter early on Wednesday and she hasn't returned my call.. If she calls back I will have to ask...

yeah those seems to be good ones.. i picked lifeguard, recreation, and transportation in my interview, i recieved a pending letter about a week and half later and im still pending. I might have been that my recruiter no longer works for disney, which i found out yesterday. i called my recruiter yesterday and left a message and i added attractions merchandis, bell sevice dispatch and custodial. She hasnt gotten back to me im sure shes swamped. but i would like to find out either way cause i gotten make some life moves here cause i graduate in may

Hey just another question... Was your recruiter Jannah? Because when I got my pending letter and email after the interview, it's signed by Jannah.. When I called Wednesday, they told me it is Rebecca... I didn't think anything of it until you just said your recruiter didn't work w/ Disney anymore... Do you think it is because now maybe/possibly you and I are now someone else's workload, and now we'll have to wait?

The more roles you put down the better. 5, idk. It could be that those roles are filled and they're waiting to see if they can get openings. I initially wanted to only put down 3, but my recruiter told me that number was cutting it very close, and it would severely compromise my chances. So I forgot how many I put down. I think like 9 or something. But I think your problem could have to do with your college too. Man that sucks. I don't see what their problem is. Sure it may delay a graduation by a semester, but that doesn't mean people won't get a degree. Any internship in another city may likely delay your graduation for that matter.

I doubt its a school issue. My school neither supports or condems the program. We have to take a leave of absence for when we're gone, unless we take online classes (in which case it doesn't matter if we're on campus or not). Have you considered doing that? I didn't do that last time, but I will be doing an online class this summer.

Also, I say so what if you have to stay at the school an extra semester due to doing the program. It was an incredible experience. I don't really see why your school should suddenly have a problem with it. Its up to the student to decide if they wish to stay at that school an extra semester. (I basing this on my experience: I have an extra semester now because I did the program).

As for transferring, that's a non-issue, one of my roomies did it while she was down there. She transferred to Valencia.

yeah i called yesterday to the changed me to rebecca which i guess she has two case loads now instead of one hopefully we hear something soon

yeah pending letters stink. I know both time I have applied I got the first very quickly and the second a little slower. I know if you had a good attitude on the phone and gave some positive readings they will choose you. I was here during my friends interview and she was very monotone and didn't really know how to answer the questions. You should be fine hun. Let us know when you get ur answer

I am actually a semester ahead anyways, so IN THEORY I can graduate in May 2011 as long as I declare and then stay as a history major and don't add on education... which I can/will just have to go get certified later.. I took college courses back in high school which earned me 12 elective credit hours.. So yeah. That is a non issue to me. But of course there is no telling them that! :confused3

Someone else on another topic mentioned that... and I asked... No go. My school won't allow it - the "50-70 hours of work a week, combined with the living situation is not conducive to being able to take courses..." and "the school doesn't want me to jeopardize my GPA." Which makes me wonder.... If it was more kids going down there and screwing around, not taking it seriously, etc... MAYBE that's why they put the kabosh on the CP @ my school. If you have individuals that honestly are dedicated to doing the CP, I don't think that would even be an issue.. Correct??

That's what the parents said. And I totally agree. I'll be darned if that school holds me back. If I am accepted, and go, I am going to lose a $500/semester scholarship to do this... If that doesn't mean something, especially in the economy we are in now, I don't know what will! I would wait until after I graduate to do it, but like my mom said, "You don't know where you will be in your life 2 years from now, live your life while you can, and while you have a job that fully supports your going and have said they will hire you back when you come home." Even someone told me @ work today, it is too important to me to care about that scholarship. She said when I get married and have kids one day I'll be throwing money away on them, so I should enjoy throwing the money away for myself while I still have the chance!

As for transferring, that's a non-issue, one of my roomies did it while she was down there. She transferred to Valencia.
My feeling is if I truly love living in Orlando after this, I would transfer to a school down there. If not, I am most likely just going to transfer to another school up here. The whole experience has truly left me with a bitter taste in my mouth about the school.. which also includes other experiences this semester, but that is not important.

You know it! You'll probably hear the blood curdling scream when if/when I open the mailbox and see the envelope!! I really do think the interview went well, I talked about past vacations and how talking to past CP's and CM's about working for Disney made me want to do it that much more, they really take pride in what they do and it shows and to just be a part of that I would be so lucky. So I hope that proved how truly bad I want to do it.

And I'm sorry, if this video doesn't make you want to work for Disney, you have a heart of coal!

The reasons schools typically go against the CP isn't so much that you will graduate LATE, but that you won't COME BACK (...to them--which means they lose THOUSANDS of DOLLARS).

Also, no school can prevent you from participating. All they are allowed to do is confirm that you are a student--and in this case, release your GPA--and by law, they must do so if you request it.

Aside from that, what the heck kind of school won't let you take courses if you're enrolled and willing to pay?! You won't be working 50-70 hours, it's 30-55 hours. And the living situation isn't much different than dorm life. Well, I actually thought it was quieter and more relaxing than dorm life. You choose your own lifestyle. It doesn't have to be one of constant, chaotic partying. You can look into taking online coursework elsewhere and transferring in--they won't effect your GPA at all this way.

Anyhow, I'd call recruiting and see if they can tell you what's holding up your process at all... I'm a little concerned as you applied QSF and most everyone who applies with QSF, who is accepted, will at least get that. DON'T PANIC though...seriously... I'm sure you will get to the bottom of it, with a bit of kind persistence! :) The revelation about the recruiter reassignment is likely a very strong possibility for the hold-up! Good luck! Keep us posted...

That's understandable. But to support it for like 20 years and then decide not to? Strange I think.

That is what the head of the Hospitality and Tourism Dept. said. She did say something about going to my department and asking if there was anything I can do to earn credit, but being that I am about to declare a history major, I'm pretty much confident in the fact that will be a "NO!" I'll contact my recruiter again and ask if there is anything I can do. I'm going to be running around like crazy on Monday, and I hope Rebecca calls me back! Either that or I will just have to ask someone when I call Disney Recruiting I suppose... Do you think there is anything Disney can provide to my school saying I won't be working 70 hours a week? That would allow me to do online coursework?

When I spoke to whoever @ recruiting before they connected me to Rebecca's voicemail, she said flat out my status was still pending. On Wednesday afternoon... I hope the recruiter switch doesn't make me have to longer than the 17th!!

Kelly- my daughter has been waiting for 6 weeks and 2 days. She has also emailed, and tried to speak with her rectruiter. The person she spoke with before being transferred to the recruiters vm also told her flat out that she was still pending. My daughters recruiter is Sharon. We're still hoping and waiting patiently just like you. Ive been keeping up with your posts bcuz I see you've been kept in that dreaded "pending" status also. Who was your recruiter???!!! (good luck to you!)

It's terrible to be pending, isn't it?? I am eagerly anticipating for the 17th so I can know for sure... I ALSO know my mother is probably waiting more for the 17th then I am... I am driving her nuts!! :rotfl:

My recruiter was Jannah.. Now it is Rebecca. I guess Jannah is not with the company anymore... Don't know why... But like I said, I hope it doesn't affect my wait time, or my chances of getting in!!

I agree, its terrible to be waiting. Hopefully all of you will find out something before the 17th. I know we should stay positive, but my daughter is beginning to feel like she's just been forgotten about. Whats more frustrating than anything is seeing so many get accepted who've applied later than her. Oh well, we all just have to keep hoping for the best. At least a lot of you had Jannah as a recruiter and if she's not there anymore then maybe that's the reason there's been a delay. But, we dont know whats up with my daughters recruiter Sharon-- I guess they're just super busy. Anyway, keep us all posted and I will do the same! Good luck to you!

Well the thing I am scared about is that maybe we got added on to someone else's work load, and we have to wait til she is done with all of her original recruits. Kind of like being treated as if we had just interviewed right after the recruiter switch, instead of being treated as if we had interviewed when we originally had. I'm not sure if it will make a difference, but I certainly hope not.

i really hope someone that is pending hears something before friday but i really think that we will all find out friday...if i found out before that i will be surprised. I also found out friday that i am one class short of graduating so i guess this is good news cause i have another chance to interview if i dont make it this time...other wise i would be furious

I certainly hope not either for all of you who had Jannah. Hopefully they would keep in mind the dates you all interviewed and work on that basis. Did you apply for Fall or Fall Advantage? My daughter applied for Fall Advantage and is still waiting. Lets all hope there's a positive answer for all who've been so patient and that you guys dont have to wait till the 17th.

Just Fall. I don't finish school until May 15th, so I'd REALLY be cutting it close had I applied FA, and got in on a May arrival date. I want to have time to pack, get ready, etc..
