We plan on trying this for the first time in Sept. The Good, the bad, the ulgy about this restaurant... please tell!

We had an ADR for the Maya Grill at 7:30am back in December. We ran a few minutes late, but it was no problem. I think there were only 2 other tables seated when we arrived. The place was basically empty. Our server was great. The coffee was the best part of the meal. It was Italian coffee and it outshined the Kona coffee that we always dream about when we are not at Disney. There was a wide variety of breakfast fare at the buffet. We loved everything that we tried. The food was well spiced and the breakfast enchilada with scrambled eggs were particuarly tasty. The fruits and pastries were very fresh also. I can see us booking breakfast here more often if we stay at CSR again because it was our favorite non-character breakfast experience of the trip mostly because there was such a great variety of items and Gabby had a little more control over what she could dine upon.

They had a great breakfast buffet a few years back. Didn't care for the dinner selections, but they may have changed.

We have eaten dinner there twice on our last two trips, and the food was great both times. But the most recent time, the service was just terrible. From the moment we walked in, when the cranky old man didn't think he could "fit" us in (there was only one family in the restaurant at the time) to the waiter ignoring us and never asking if we wanted refills on our beverages. It was just not a good experience, and I honestly don't think we would go back.

We ate breakfast there this past Dec and really enjoyed it. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we made a special trip back over there this past May for dinner (even though we were staying at a different resort). We had a 7:00pm ADR, but were tired and decided to try to walk up at about 5:00. No problem. We got right in and had a nice seat by the window. We were on the dining plan and made the mistake of ordering the mixed grill. It was delicious, but believe me if you order it make sure you have someone (or several someones) to share it with. We knew it came with steak, fish, ribs, potatoes, and vegetables, but assumed they'd be just small sampler size portions. Wrong! There was at least five lbs of mashed potatoes on that huge platter, along with a whole rack of ribs, a large steak, and a large, thick piece of fish, in addition to the vegetables. We couldn't even make a dent in it. We took it back and put it in the refridgerator. We ate on it the next day for breakfast, then two nights later after another early night in the parks we ate on it again. At that point we threw it out and probably still had enough left to feed several people. It was HUGE!

Good to know about the mixed grill... DH has already said that is what he is ordering (he's a big boy- he'll probably finish it himself... or die trying! )

I haven't been there for about 2 yrs. but I think this restaurant is highly underrated. Last time I was there, they had an awesome surf and turf as a special that nite. The restaurant is really pretty and there is almost never a wait. Booked and adr for this sept since we will be staying at csr and am really looking forward to it.
