Mayan Riviera?

Anyone been? I'm 19 and was REALLY hoping to get to Disney World this Christmas but after talking it through with my parents and travel agent, my dad thought it would be a better plan to take a family vacation to the Mayan Riviera. We have never been. Being young and enjoying fast paced trips such as Disney, I don't want to be bored. I know it'll be BEAUITFUL but I'm still paying enough money to go for 1 week and I'm not really the type who likes hanging on the beach all day.
Any input?

We went a few years ago and it is really far from Cancun..about 1-2 hours dependingon which resort you are at. There is NOTHING to do there except hang on the beach, eat and drink. You can take a ferry over to Cozumel which has good shopping. There is a "water park" there in the Mayan....it has snorkeling that sort of thing. No nightlife outside of your resort. Where are you thinking of staying?

I'm not sure where we are staying as of yet. The way you reviewed it was sort of what I was expecting. For my dad it's great, he's always working, it would be a great vacation for him and my stepmom. But my sister and I are young and looking for something that's a little more lively. I don't even like going to the beach.

The Mayan Riviera is really all about sun, beaches, and watersports. Depending on the resort, there may be some activities like bicycling or horseback riding nearby.
