Maya Wrappers-what fabric # to get for a girl?

Ok, you've got me sold on the Maya wrap- I am buying one for my sister who is expecting her 1st baby (a girl) in the Fall. Peronally, I used a Bjorn but now I wish I would've tried a wrap. Anyway, what fabric # or color would you recommend for a girl? My sister is a redhead & very particular about what colors she wears. I hate making these types of decisions, I'd love some recommendations. Thanks!!

I really love my maya wrap. I have a girl also but bought a color that I like. It's not girly but matches most things I wear. It is blue and green. I don't know the color #.

If you want even more choices, you can usually find people who sew Maya-style wraps in your area who will make them from any fabric you choose. They like to sew them out of quilting fabric. You can find a wide selection at any fabric store, like Hancock Fabrics, and Wal-Mart. The best way to find one of those ladies is probably to call a local La Leche chapter and see if they know of anyone.

This is a tough decision.There are so many colors and prints to choose from. I ended up with the plain, unbleached cotton because I wanted a light color that wouldn't heat up in the sun and I wanted it to go with everything.

I bought mine from a local distributor I knew through La Leche League meetings. She always lets people know they can exchange them if the color isn't right. If you go to Maya Wrap you can find a local distributor and ask about return policies.

I made mine, out of beige silk twill (necktie silk.) Warm in winter, cool in summer, and the strongest natural fiber there is. I just hand-wash it. You can get this fabric from Denver Fabrics online for a good price. (The sueded finish holds the rings well.)

There is a company called TaylorMade that sells silk Maya-pattern slings. I think that they are made of dupioni, which is a very soft slubbed silk. (I'm too cheap to pay that much, though; especially when I can sew.)
