Any recent reviews of Maya Grill? We (me & 2 dds) will be arriving around 6:00 and I thought rather than try and navigate the Pepper Market, a nice sit down dinner would be better. Anyone eat here lately? How is it for kids?

Thanks.

Maya Grill only serves breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is great, we ate there several times. We only had dinner at the Maya Grill once. The food is good but it is geared more for the adults I felt. They did have some unusual dishes. Depends what your DD's eat they may be more than willing to try the food. The do post a menu outside the restaurant so you can see what they offer.

The Pepper Market does have tables that you can sit ddown at and have a lot more choices.

Here is a picture of the dinner menu from my Coronado Springs Website:

I also have the Pepper Market menu listed as well. You can check out my site via the link in my signature.

Thanks for the menu epcotfan. We have a daughter named Maya (only we spell it Maiya), so I kind of wanted to go there because of that. But looking at the menu, I'm not sure it is a good idea. Cthia is right about the menu being more geared towards adults.

A lot of people don't realize that the menu has changed drastically. It is now more of a Steak and Chop House. In contrast here is a link to their original menu from themeparks.com We liked the old menu. It was unique but didn't go over too well for the masses.

I so wish the old menu was still in tact. Sounds like some delicious cuisine.

Thanks for reminding me of the great former menu at Maya Grill. DH and I used to love to eat there. It was Nuevo Latino at it's best -- creative, diverse, different and delicious. It always brought back happy memories of trips we've taken to Peru. We were so disappointed when we showed up one night only to find they'd turned it into a routine "steak and chop" house. We left without eating and haven't been back since.

I read elsewhere on this board that the unique breakfast items at Spoodles have also been cut in favor of traditional eggs and bacon. It seems like Disney tries new things but apparently they just don't go over. Too many people just want the same things they eat at home.

Too bad.

Lynncruiser:
You hit the nail right on the head. Inventive menus do seem to suffer at WDW and most folks do seem to want exactly what they could get at home. It happened at Maya Grill and I recall when it happened to my favorite WDW restaurant of all time, the Papettee Bay Verandah. It lacked patronage and they tried to save it by making it mostly Chinese. When I spoke to the Manager there as to why, he said that the majority of folks just wanted a lot of "cheap" food, and Papette Bay just couldn't operate as it then existed.
As you say--too bad.

Uncleromulus--

Thanks for your thoughts! It's nice to know I'm not alone in missing the creative and unique restaurants that others seem to shun.
