Maya Grill?

Looking for a couple more ADR's for our trip and I have no idea what to choose. But, I was looking at the Maya Grill menu on Allearsnet.com and I think I like what is on the menu.
I know there are alot of people on here that don't really care for this place but could someone tell me about a recent experience here?

Well it was six months ago so not sure if thats very recent, but here goes! We loved Maya Grill. We ate there the night before we cruised (were staying at CSR) and thought the food was outstanding. Most of us had the ribeye, it was wonderful, tenderest ribeye I have ever eaten. My cousin had the duck and raved about it. We had the crabmeat chalupa for an appetizer it was also wonderful. We also had the fried sweet plantains and they were tasty. It was a great experience, the service was very good and the atmosphere was nice. CSR is worth a trip over to dine and explore, its a lovely resort. I would gladly eat at Maya Grill again.

We ate there and loved it. Great food, service and surroundings although it was a little slow cooking wise, which didn't really matter. Great place, we would eat there again no problem. Had the filet and catch of the day and seafood appetizer. Very good steak, I think you will like it alot.

I think the reviews on the Maya Grill are wrong. We plan on eating there again next trip and staying at CSR, it's beautiful as the other poster said.

Iread a lot of restaurants have Root vegetable hash or similar and parsnips. I hate parsnips are they different fried or can you substitute?

We ate there, and loved it. The service and the food was great. We would go there again easy!!

Where did that come from? I have never read that nor experienced that at any Disney Dinner. The vegetables were a medley of some sort, my dish and my wifes had different medleys even, which I thought was a nice touch.

I could've posted that myself. I too was there last August and while the food was not bad, it did not convince me to come back. Probably what I remember most was that the CMs were so very unfriendly. From the CM checking us in to the one seating us and the server, there were alot of unhappy CMs -- we usually attributed that too poor management. We didn't have a very attentive server, so was left with empty glasses and a little attitude when we had to ask another CM for drinks. The food was good, but service was not. I've been tempted to try again, but havn't convinced myself yet. Maybe I'll try again in October. But I have to admit, they have a great looking menu.

Haven't tried Maya for lunch/dinner, but we have enjoyed the breakfast buffet a couple times. Lots of variety for sure. We were just at CSR last week and did the buffet on our last day. We all enjoyed it.

You have to know what to order.

The fillet was the absolute best one we had on the property. Nice and tender, cooked just like ordered, and tasty too.

The ribs were standard St. Louis style that one could get almost anywhere. The sauce wasn't spicy at all but was tangy. Nothing special with these.

The fish was correct for the style it was supposed to be. It had a dry rub and was cooked more well done than the average person is used to here. The trouble is that there really isn't anything on the menu to indicate this. But I've certainly known people that love their fish done this way and would send it back if it came out the way I like it. Those will find it really good imo.

The duck was wonderful. This is one that if you do not like spice, do not get it. It will be too spicy for you. But for your average person, they'll feel it spicy, but not overwhelming. If you're used to Thai curries, you'll find it bland.

The kid's tenderloin tips were great. They were nice and tender and not of a totally inferior quality like so many kid's steaks can be these days.

Of the appetizers the seafood margarita looks so enticing. Avoid it. It's more rabbit food than seafood.
I got the seafood skillet and got a far better deal.

Service was cordial but not overly friendly. I don't think they were rude or unhappy or anything though. We got seated right next to the big window overlooking the lake. Service was prompt, but not rushed.
Overall, everything came out to temperature.

All in all we were very happy with it.

Thanks for the information the etrees that you mentioned were all on our list. Can you tell me about their desserts? I think my husband was intrested in the dessert with chamorb in it.

It's been awhile, but my mom and I ate there last May. It was very good. We had an ADR for about 7:30pm, but were tired, so showed up about 5:30pm. The place was almost empty. We were seated immediately and had a very attentive, friendly waiter with a nice window table. We made the mistake of ordering the last thing on the menu (forgot the name), but it had ribs, steak, and fish all three, along with potatoes and vegetables. I say mistake only because it was soooo much food. It was very good--steak very tender, ribs meaty, and fish very flaky--all cooked perfectly. Because it had all three meats, we assumed they would be small portions. Boy, were we wrong. They were huge and we laughed that there had to be at least 5 lbs of mashed potatoes on that huge platter. It was very good, but neither of us even made a dent in it. The appetizers weren't that good (a chalupa and I forgot what my mom ordered, but it was just OK). Dessert we ordered and took only a bite of, but that was just because we were so full from the entree. They were good though--a flan and a cheesecake.

FYI-That huge three meat entree was included in the DDP, by the way. The waiter said there were no exceptions on the menu.

Maya Grill was wonderful and we are going back again this year. I got the 3 meat entree and had enough left for 2 breakfasts later. The service, ambiance and food was fantastic.

I love the Maya Grill. If you get a table by the windows overlooking the lake at night it is very romantic. The food is very good as well.

We love the Maya Grill. The food and the atmosphere are wonderful there.

They ALL looked really really good. I remember the Choc. Chambord cake and it looked very nice. So did the fried cheesecake thing. They have a tray of them by the entrance.

My wife had the spiced Churros with Fried Plantains, very very good.
I had the Creme Brulee very good as well.
The kids got ice cream but it had sprinkles and m&ms in it so it was more like a sundae for them even.
In fact everyone of the desserts look very tasty. They also have 2 sampler type desserts that aren't on the dining plan. I should have asked if we could sub for it and pay the difference.

Again our experience there was top notch. Highly recommended.
