We like to try one new restaurant each time we go to Disneyworld. This December we've decided on either Maya Grill or Boatwright's.

Hubby is the family carnivore, will definitely choose a steak or prime rib. I'll eat just about anything.

I'd love to hear of any recent experiences at either of these places. Thanks!

Oh, no kids on this trip, and we'll have a car, if any of that matters.

I definitely vote for Boatwright's! Of course, if you look at my screen name you will have an idea why...
I don't remember what entree I had, but the Bananas Foster Angel Food Cake was phenomenal!

Boatwright's is in our favorite Moderate - POR. The food is pretty good and the cast is great. Been to CSR and Maya and it is not bad, just not that Disney feel. The theming in Boatwrights makes it a nice place, too. The story of the boat building and the decor is neat. There is a nice table in front of the fireplace that is a relaxing escape from the parks. Good food and atmosphere. Another vote for Boatwrights.

Thanks for your replies.

The Bananas Foster Angel Food Cake sounds like a winner!

I, too, like that Boatwright's seems to have more of a 'theme' to it. It seems to make the dining more of a special time, rather than just like an average restaurant at home.

We stayed at POR this past September, and always do Boatwrights as one of our restaurants. That being said, we were actually disappointed in the food the last trip.
It may have been a fluke, but there didn't seem to be as much of a selection, and the food itself was so so. It may have been due to the fact we had a somewhat large group, (9 people) but this is the first time we have been disappointed., and we always go with about the same size group.

I'd vote for Boatwrights too, and I've never been there....

Ate at Maya Grill twice during my recent trip, neither time was anything worth going out of the way for. It wasn't bad (although service was horribly slow at dinner, took almost 2 hours for 2 adults), but it wasn't really worth it anymore. Which is sad as last year dinner was great both times. Breakfast was rather bleh as well. Not bad, just nothing special.

We had a very nice meal at Boatwrights in May - full review with pics in the dining review linked in my signature.

A year ago next week we were at disney and we ate at both places. My family are VERY picky eaters. Both places exchanged certain meal items for something else..or cooked something slightly differently than how it was mentioned on the menu..But i would choose Boatwrights over the other because of the cast. They were AWESOME!..Celebrating my b-day and the cast went ALL out for me. I had a concern about the dessert because of nut allergies and not only did the chef come out personally but he came out twice to bring me and my family our dessert of choice but also an "extra special dessert" because of my birthday. The cast made the meal extremely worthwhile and because they had NO problem with making special requests. Maya was just ok. I couldve been home to get the same kind of treatment. Boatwrights is my choice
