Looking for someone who has been to and ate at the Maya Grill for dinner recently.
Please post your reviews - I did see Mister Disney's review and pics - Great job!

We will be on the dining plan and are scheduled to go Oct. 5th at 5:30 pm

Thanks in Advance!

We dined there the last week of August. I had the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and DH had the Caribbean style chicken role. There were no appetizers for the kids. DD had the chicken parm and liked it. DH and I both had the mixed grill. It had St. Louis ribs, filet mignon, and the catch of the day which was Mahi Mahi. It came with lots of grilled veggies and I had mashed potatoes, and DH had a backed potatoes. There were fried onion straws on top of the steak and potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious, the Mahi Mahi was also grilled, and was outrageous. Now my DH and I are not fish eaters. I only eat shrimp, but decided to be adventerous. The Mahi Mahi was so good, it didn't taste fishy and was awesome. The ribs were so soft, and the meat fell off the bones. The veggies were great, and so were the potatoes. I could not eat all the food, neither could DH, I left some ribs, lots of potatoes, and some veggies. For dessert I had the vanilla creme brulee, and it was good. DH had the chocolate cake. DD had a scoop of ice cream. The food was excellent, and we would eat there again with the dining plan.

The only thing is the actual cost of our food was107.69 and that included tax. The restaurant was only getting 68.76 and that included tax and a 15% gratuity of $8.51, on a discounted price of $56.76. Once seeing the two receipts DH left the server an extra $10.00 tip in cash.

Go and enjoy, and please don't forget to tip your server an appropriate amount for the actual cost of your meal.

Thanks so much for the great review. I believe I read your article before about tipping - thanks for the reminder - definately don't want them to think we wouldn't tip more - did the waiter give you good service?
I hadn't seen many posts on the Maya Grill.
Last time we stayed at CSR was in 2000. (But didn't try the Maya Grill back them)
Looking forward to the dining plan also - $35 a day - you can't beat that with a stick! LOL!!

JoiseyMom - you stole my thunder. I was going to post identical to you - had the same meal - shrimp cocktail, and mixed grill. We ate there Saturday, August 27 - and fortunately we had the free dining plan - I think our bill came to $180 for 4 of us - we each ordered an appetizer and dessert. The food was marvelous - steaks were perfect. A very satisfying experience - I would reccomend it, even if you're not staying at CSR.

Is Disney only tipping on the value of what the guest paid for the dining plan? That is miserable for the server if I am understanding it correctly.

Yes, but this is only happening at NON Disney owned restaurants. My DH checked the receipts we were given carefully. With Maya Grill we received 2 receipts and saw what it cost, and what they were getting. But we didn't see that anywhere else. We got regular receipts at the restaurants from the World Showcase, and they appeared fine. BUT when I got the listing from Disney of what our meals cost 2 of the WOrld SHowcase restaurants were for the same amonut of money. I know those meals didn't cost that, so at the those restaturants the servers aren't being tipped enough, and you don't even realize it. I will be posting a complete dining report as soon as I can, with the numbers.

I just made an ADR for here as we are staying at CSR and wanted to try it out one night we are taking it easy.

Would love to hear more reviews. Where is Mister Disney's??

Well sometime during the week were there, we're gonna give this place a try too.
It sounds really good.
Hope you have a safe trip.
