Hello, all. September is our normal month. This year I talked DH into May and Dec. We are due to arrive 5/14 however when I look at the extended forecast it calls for Tstorms daily. Can anyone tell me if these are the types of storms that downpour them the sun is out blazing like in Sept?

Thanks in advance and have a magical day!

In my experience, yes.
We are going 5/7-5/15. I anticipate temps in the high- 80°'s and brief downpours some days.

Sounds like typical Florida weather to me. We haven't gone in May, but every time we do go the forecast shows storms or rain every single day. More often than not it turns out to be scattered rain or storms for an hour or two and then the sun comes back out. We had one or two trips there where there was one day that it actually rained all day long. Best of luck to you on your May vacation. I hope stays dry enough for you to have fun. I think it will.

The rainy season usually starts in late May or June, but sometimes the rains come a little earlier, however looking at a forecast 2 weeks before is useless,if it says it will rain 2-3 days before then yeah you'll possibly get rain, but 2 weeks before its too early, the forecast will likely change 5 times between now and then.

We always go in May. We've only had one trip where it was pretty much downpours everyday. Every other time has just been a brief mid-day rain and then clears up. Hoping it's like that when we leave!

I live here in Orlando so I can give you an expert opinion, and that is...don't look at weather forecasts, especially weeks in advance :)
Our "regular" May thunderstorms can be brief or can last all day. I recommend bringing ponchos, checking the weather each morning and taking it from there

All I know is April showers bring May flowers....sorry I had to do it. Typical high temp weather. Like most said it's usually a quick downpour!

Thanks for all the responses.....as long as I get and hour or two of pool time each day, I am good

How about the temperatures at night in May. Would you need a sweater?

Not unless it's a strong breeze and you get chilly with temps in the mid 70's. At night it'll usually be in the high 70's/low 80's.

Yes, the daily afternoon thunderstorms typically start in May here. They haven't quite ramped up yet, but by the end of the month its pretty normal. You could get lucky.
