Wasn't sure where to put this question but since it concerns being able to be in the parks I picked here......when does the "rainy season" start?? I've heard alot about this and its worrying me. People talk about May = rain in Florida. Does it rain everyday in May. Does it rain all day long?? What do they mean by that?? I live in Ohio and don't know anything about Florida weather other then hurricane season. Are trip is in May and I am picturing a rainy one (hopefully not) Disney is an expensive vacation to spend in the rain. Are the people I've heard this from exaggerating or just plain don't know what they are talking about?

Not sure about rain, but if the weather down south is anything like here in Mississippi - hot and humid! Oh, joy. ;)

We were there last May 16-21 and it didn't rain once. Not even a sprinkle. However it was (according to our bus driver) unseasonably hot and humid. We're talking 95 degrees and palm dampening humidity. But a hot day at WDW is better than no day at all!!

I dont mind the heat (I say that now, ha ha) but alot of rain would be a bummer. I know there isnt anything you can do about it but we can't afford to vacation every year so it's a big deal and I hope it's nice. It's so hard to pick a month, so many different reasons to pick a particular month.

Well I am from tampa, not too far away and I can tell you that it will be warm, but not too bad. Humid yes. because of the location and time of year though you might see some thunderstorms in the afternoon around three for about five minutes there might be a terrential downpour but that goes away just as quick as it comes in...no worries though, its florida...gotta love it...bring sunscreen, shorts, and flip flops, the rest is up to you...HAVE FUN OHIO!!!!!! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :wizard:

By the way how is the weather in Ohio, I was thinking about their medical school?

Our weather???? Ummmmm.......not the greatest but probably not the worst either. I guess I can't complain right now. We had a mild winter and this week has been sunny and low 70's (unusual for April). It seems the last 4-5 years that we hardly have a spring and fall (northern Ohio). Just cold winters and hot summers, no in between. I don't know that I could take Florida's summers but I also get a little tired of Ohio's winters.

Where in Ohio are you? We are in NE Ohio in the Akron/Canton area. I'm loving our weather right now, but you're right about no fall and/or spring. It seems like it goes from 32 degrees to 75 degrees overnight. I miss the transition phases! We, too, are going to WDW in May (16 days but who's counting? :confused3 ) and I was praying for decent weather. I'd love 80's, but would take 90's over rain any day! Have a great trip!

I live in Huron County in between Elyria and Norwalk if you are familiar. Yes, we are having great weather now. I wish every April was like this and I wish every winter was as mild as this one. We have been a little spoiled this year but we'll take it. I agree with you on Florida, hot is ok, we are from Ohio after all. I just hope there isn't much rain. You have agreat trip also. I can't stand waiting!!

I think this year is/will be dryer than the last few. Don't know about next year, but I'm not seeing rain like I expected. If it all catches up in May we'll be underwater. I don't think that's likely.

That being said we had 6 perfect days last May at the YC Concierge. We made reservations in June this year but got a killer deal at beach place near Cape Canaveral this year we wanted to try for months so that's off. All said, rain in Florida is usually the kind that blows in and dissappears within an hour. It's not a daylong event unless there's a major storm front. It's more of a refresher and we'd all be grateful for more of it down here from the way things have been going.

The US Drought monitor http://drought.unl.edu/dm/monitor.html states that Florida conditions are abnormally dry. I think you're safe in May.

Also from Ohio - Cleveland area. We're going in May too (3rd - 9th) so I was interested in the responses to your question. Have a great trip.

This is how our weather has been too in the Northeast. I really do miss the spring weather too. Don't get me wrong I love summer and wish that I was living in Florida all the time. But I don't right now so I would like some spring weather too. Have Fun!

I've lived in FL for 34 years, right now about two hours north of WDW.

May is generally dry. If it does rain, it's not like "up north rain" where it rains all day and is gray and dismal. It's bright and sunny all morning, then an afternoon thunderstorm rolls in for an hour or so. Even when that happens, they're not as strong as, say, August or September.

It's usually pretty hot. Sometimes there's high humidity (which will increase the liklihood of those afternoon thunderstorms); sometimes not. Bring sunscreen, plan on enjoying water rides.

As for rainy season, I've seen it come as late as June/July, only because I bought a car a few years ago, '98 I believe, and there were fires in Florida due to the drought, and I got an incredible deal, lol. Right now, we need rain...haven't seen any in over a week! Even still, at this point, it rarely rains all day.

Enjoy your trip! May is this Floridian's favorite time to go to Orlando :)

We'll be there for Mother's Day weekend, and look forward to pretty nice weather!

We have had a lovely spring so far, and it's been one of the best years for magnolias, spring bulbs and flowering trees. The Cincinnati Flower show begins next week, and then we're off to see the Flower And Garden Show at Epcot!

Have fun, everyone!

Bobbi

I'm so glad to hear that. I can handle rain for an hour a day. I am soooo excited I can't wait. The time is dragging. I can't wait to see all the beautiful flowers at epcot and just Disney World's beautiful landscaping in general. Thank you for all the replies, I feel much better now and so excited!! Hello to the fellow Ohioan's, everybody have a great trip!!
