Me and my boyfriend are going to Los Angeles from May 10 to 17. I need some help planning what days to do what parks. We wanted to do disney right off the bat for magical effect but I'm concerned about grad night which is may 10, 11, 16 and 17 when we go. My boyfriend wants to see Fantasmic which is only on fri, sat and sun (11, 12, 13). I also want to visit gentle barn which can only be on Sunday 10 am - 4 pm and is north. We also will be going to magic mountain, universal, Knotts berry farm plus local tourist stuff in LA. We plan on staying at disney 4 days 3 nights and another cheaper hotel for the rest. Im having trouble planning this . Can you guys help me plan an inteniary ? Much help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Not too long until your trip, how exciting! Unfortunately not much can be known about the traffic on grad nights until a few have happened this year and reports come in. I would definitely recommended planning your start of a Disney Day at least 1/2 hr at the gates before they open. You will also have to factor in time it takes to get to the parks and other attraction around LA.

A great "cheap" attraction is the Gardenwalk in Anaheim. This is a collection of shops and eateries in a really amazingly beautiful setting. It's definitely worth a stroll, along with the obvious Downtown Disney. I really advise you to give yourself time to see what you want and don't rely on too set of a schedule!

What I would do is not assume those midweek Grad Nites are going to cause terrible crowds. When DCA closes and the only choice is to go to DL is where the problems will be. Besides that basic problem is DLR, Knotts, USH and MM all are busier on the weekend which causes a bit of a catch 22. And driving is worse during the week.

I would like to start at DLR and end at DLR because with the Gentle Barn in the middle it will have to be split. Also consider Knotts as part of the DLR visit since it is only a few miles away.

I would do- DL, Knotts, DL, Gentle Barn, MM, USH, LA, DL, DL. This will give you a mix of DL crowds, and low crowds at Knotts, MM and USH, high crowds driving around LA.

Don't count on finding a cheaper hotel when away from DLR, competition and a surplus of rooms makes for a lot of competition near the resort. Read this link below on DLR hotel advice.
