May or September?

We've got a trip to DL planned for May 2-6. However, we're now considering rescheduling the trip for mid to late September for the following reasons:

1) New attractions opening in June (Star Tours, Little Mermaid, etc.)
2) Looks like Splash Mountain (one of our favorite rides) will be closed in May
3) We're planning on spending a day or two at the beach and I'm assuming the water temperature and weather will be a little better in Sept.

Is this a no-brainer? Can anyone think of a good reason why we shouldn't switch?

We're trying to stick with these times to avoid heavy crowds.

Thanks!

Thanks!

It would depend on when you wanted to go in September. If you go while Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain are down to get their Halloween overlays, then you'd miss out on those rides. I believe they go down shortly after Labor Day and open in late September (25th two years ago, can't remember when they opened last year). For me, though, I think having the chance to see the new Little Mermaid ride would make up for not being able to go on Space or Haunted!

If I could only choose one, I would probably pick September for the reasons you stated as well as concern over what impact preparations for the Pirates 4 premiere might have on the park.

Be careful when choosing your September dates though. Labor Day weekend is probably busy due to the combination of the holiday and the Disneyland 1/2 marathon.

According to the Disney website, Halloween Time is planned for Sept. 16 - Oct. 31. That first weekend that all the Halloween offerings are available could turn out to be very busy, especially if the weather is nice.

If you go the first half of September, Mansion will be closed; it actually closed on August 30 last year, so before Labor Day. If you go the second half of the month, Mansion will be open but redressed with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. Last year, Space was closed Sept. 12-16, so I would guess this year it will be closed Sept. 11-15 unless for some reason more extensive work is required. When it reopens it will have the Ghost Galaxy Halloween theme.
