Which time is the best to go with regards to crowd levels & weather. We are thinking either first two weeks of May or the first two weeks of October.

Not sure about May, but we have been in the first 2 weeks of October and it was great.
The crowd levels were pretty good in all of the parks. It was a little busier in epcot but there is the food and wine festival on at that time of the year which we loved.

The weather was good too, but we did have maybe a handfull of short heavy downpours of rain (lasted maybe about 15-30 mins each) but we could normally see them coming in and had enough time to get somewhere indoors. When the sun came out we dried pretty quickly though if we did get caught out. This didn't happen all day every day by ant means though.

For us the weather was pretty near perfect as it wasn't as stuffy as when we went in September the year before, but it did get a little cool for me on 1 or 2 of the evenings (having said that, my boyfriend was in the unheated pool every night and i do like to be toasty warm :rotfl2: )

If it was us, we would go back in October again :thumbsup2

Cant compare as never been in May before but I am a massive October fan and always go for the first two weeks!

Weather is always spot on, have been going every October since 2003 and love it. The crowds are not too big although as PP says, EPCOT can get busy with the F & W Festival which we also LOVE! :lovestruc

I have been in February, March/April, November and Dec/Jan before too and October is by far the best time of the year for us! :thumbsup2

Never been early May or early Oct as we have always added onto the school hols at the end of May & Oct.
May we had a lot of rain, not the usual little downpour, but that could be totally different next year. Been about 5 times in Oct, our fave month, perfect weather, low crowds, low prices, Food & Wine festival, halloween events. Great month to go.

Wayneg....I love October too so normally nobody needs to sell it to me if I was trying to decide but guess what.....you have just sold it to me!! Hahahaha!!

After going 3 times last year, we decided that we would give it a miss this year as we are having IVF but now Im looking for October again! Just bugs me that we have over 200,000 Virgin miles to use and cant get flights in October to use them and thats what is stopping me! I rang VA yesterday and gave them a few months, no specific dates, said we would fly from any UK airport and would fly to Orlando, Los Angeles, Las Vegas or San Fransisco (thought if we couldnt get WDW, we would try Disneyland California) and guess what.......nothing, no dates that we can use our miles for! Infuriates me!

Anyway, sorry to go off on your thread miss_bell but you have planted the seed for me for October now  Maybe will see you there! :rotfl2:

We have over 200,000 miles also. I find using them is easier if you are a good planner & lots of time to search ie look from the flights being released and search 3,4 or 5 times a day until you find what you want(took me 3 months and 450-500 searches 1 trip til I got what I wanted) They do release offers but they are not easy to find and disappear quickly. If you just look 6 months out and only look a couple of times a week then the chances are you won't find them.
The deals are not as good as they were, this August we got Miles and Money to Orlando economy out PE return at £880, saved quite a lot on regular prices but still way too much for me. Can't wait to start going in low season again.

We have done both of the exact periods you are interested in and found October to be our favourite. The weather was better, the parks were definitely lighter and you also have the option of the Halloween Nights at Disney & Universal :)

Thank you everyone for your replies, I am leaning towards October now plus it gives us long to save & plan!!

we are doing oct for the first time this year with our 2 year old twins, we love sept but feel it will be too hot for them and we love nov but I wanted to see the food and wine festival!

Never been in may so cant comment on that one sorry

we are going for the first 2 weeks in May this year - i have been the last week of May before and it was way to hot for me so really hoping its not going to be too bad early may, we are taking our lo who will be 20 months so i am hoping for lowish crowds and warm but not boiling weather - i will let you know what its like when we are back!

May has Flower and Garden festival and that makes Epcot look stunning, crowds are moderate and weather is great.

October has Food & Wine and Halloween. Weather is nice but still has the odd afternoon shower.

We like both and are our chosen times to visit.

We have never been in May but we loved oct last year and are going the first two weeks again this year.

Its not too bad crowd wise and the weather is great, its not asa humid/hot as aug and sep.

Plus as everyone else has said F&W and MNSSHP are both great events.

Never been in May going in October/November for the first time this year:thumbsup2

October was a plus for us as MNSSHP and F&W plus we usually go in August and it wont be humid in October like it is in August.

We are going October/November so we get the halloween and the christmas decorations, which start around 2nd November:thumbsup2

October for us :thumbsup2 we have been 4 times between end sept into middle of oct,and also middle oct to 1st wk of nov.loct is a great time to go-you will love it!
may/june you get the lovebugs and the brazilian tour groups

Having been both end of May and End of Oct, id say its got to be Oct...the weather is perfect,:worship:

We went in May 2009 and it really rained most of the time we were there. Not little freak showers but all day rain! So you can never be sure with weather but we loved seeing the flower festival but want to go in October next time as we have never seen Halloween.

It was May 09 I was talking about the bad rain, I think it must have been an exceptional year not the norm.
