We are still in trip planning mode. We are stuck trying to figure out if we are going to go in May or November and whether we are going to pull the camper down or just stay at a value resort.
How is the bus service from the campground? As far as location, wait time, etc. If we go the FW, we would stay at a prefered site, are all of the sites back-in or are there any pull throughs? How clean are the bathrooms? Are they located relatively close to most sites?
Is there any other info that we need before we make our decision?

I can honestly say that Ft Wilderness is the best campground I have ever stayed at. I’ve been camping there since 1972, and even though it has lost some of its charm over the years (mostly due to its increased popularity) it still is a great place to camp. The restroom facilities are always clean and well maintained. I could be wrong, but I think there is very few pull through sites because of the greenbelt area surrounding each campsite. But the sites are angled well and easy to back into. One of the things you’ll find is that you can spend quality time in the campground without ever going into the theme parks. As a matter of fact I would suggest you plan on some down time from the parks just to enjoy Ft Wilderness.

As far as timing, May will be very warm, if not hot. You can also expect thunderstorms at, or about 3pm every day, but great weather for water parks and swimming. November is cooler and dryer. Both times should have fewer crowds, but that also means shorter park hours.

Bus service at Fort Wilderness has always been a challenge, but I think the system they have now is as good as it can be. There is a local bus service within the campground, and the regularity is very good. Those buses will take you to the rest of the campground (country stores, rec areas, restaurants) and the two areas where you can get transportation to the other Walt Disney World areas and theme parks. That bus service is the same as the rest of the WDW resorts. But one of the best things about FW transportation is the boat service to the MK. I love the boats and it’s a great way to arrive at the MK.

My recommendation is go to Ft Wilderness both in May and November. The cost will most likely be the same as one stay at a value resort.

I recomend FW anytime!!! We just got home from there. There are only two pull throughs, they're right up the center strip. cant' think of the site numbers but they're in the 1200 loop. Just ask to see the site book if you're worried about getting in the one they give you. We always look to see where they're putting us. We have a 45 footer, so we have to be selective.

As far as the buses, I'd drive to The studios, Animal Kingdom and Epcot, take the boat to MK. The buses generally take too long. If you get in any loop from 100-800 then you wont have that long of a walk, and you can always rent a golf cart. Although those little suckers are expensive, we bought our own!

You'll have fun there, we love it. It's our favorite place!! :flower1:
