I've booked our site for the end of April beginning of May for two weeks of Tent camping (flying down so won't have a car). We have three kids (8,6,4). We live in Canada so we are used to the cold and last May we camped (tent) all the way down the west coast to Disneyland (we stayed in a hotel near Disneyland. I'm wondering if we should bump our dates and go in January. Will it be too cold? THe kids love swimming and would be disappointed if it was too cold to swim but it would be nice to have moderate temperatures for the parks. Also, I'd love to go in January because I wouldn't have to wait as long for the trip. What is your take...January or May?

I've not tent camped but I have been to FW the last two Januarys. You will find the low temps at night between 45-55 degrees. This past year we had several nights that got down around freezing. We had the heat on in our camper most mornings to take the chill off. Bring a small space heater if possible. Daytime highs can be all over the chart. From 50's to 80's with most being around 65-70. We managed to work in alot of pool and even water park time. You just have to check the weather forcast daily and on warm/sunny days make that a "water" day.

Both are great months,we were there last week, 5/16-5/21,and 1/16-1/21. Temps are 70-85 in jan, nites 50s. Pool is cool, but we were in it. May temps were 80s and nites 60s.,pool was great. The parks and the FORT are not crowded, but in may the weekends load up.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies. I'm still very undecided....my DH is sick of hearing about it but I also know that when we were in Montreal a few years ago it was hot (about 85F) and he was miserable in the heat. See the basis of this problem is I love the heat and he hates it! May seems like such a nice time to go...most of the rides will be open, weather is hot and it won't be too crowded and the kids can enjoy the pools. January, on the other hand, will have rides closed, will be cooler (good for Dh) and will probably be quieter and it is sooner but it may be too cold for swimming......Also, on January's side is the fact we can give it as a gift to the kids for Christmas so we'd end up saving money for the year. I think I'm leaning towards January.

If you are leaning towards Jan. 2008 better start checking NOW for availability. Jan & Feb fills up fast with snowbirds coming in for the entire season. If you cant get all the days you want.....take what you can and keep calling back to see if it is available. Goodluck in whichever time you choose!
