May or August

So our original plan was to go the last week in August before our oldest starts school. My only issue (and this is awful) but I just want to go right now lol! We cant go in February due to some bills and the tax refund if any is going to a new vehicle possibly a truck. So the soonest we could go is the week going into Memorial day. My question is which would be better for us to go the week before Memorial day or the last week in August?

May would be good before schools let out up north. FL schools are out the end of May. Also might be a few degrees cooler (that would be FL cool).

Then again anytime at the Fort is better then none at all. Enjoy

If given a choice I'd take the May date.

May is better as fox said weather wise. It's warm and sunny but not as rainy as August. August is also humid all day and night.

I don't know exactly when you'd arrive. By Thursday of the week before Memorial Day the crowds have arrived. So anything you can do to visit the parks when it's less crowded will help.

I went once in late May (arrived at the end of Mem Day weekend and stayed through the first few days of June) and it was very nice.

Hi Bama Ed we would probably arrive 5/17-25. I figured it would not be as bad as August. I know the crowds the last week in August will not be terrible, as we would check in Aug 22-30/31. I know I should probably be patient and wait until august due to the smaller crowds but I am just so inpatient. lol

We are goi the first two weeks of August. Since I'm a teacher, we can only go on vacation during school holidays. I would rather deal with the heat and humidity in August than with the crowds during school breaks.

We went the last 2 weeks in August last year - put it this way - was so great we are going the same time this year We really loved the last week of August as crowds seemed way down

LOL, that's because our schools start in the beginning to mid August, depending on the county and rating (A-rated schools have an option to start a week earlier.)

My vote is for Aug.,,but I like the hot weather,(my wife does not).
It really isn't a matter of how busy the Fort will be,,,I don't care what anyone tells you, it's gonna be busy both dates,(believe me, it will be)
So I say just pick what ever suits ya'll best , but I still vote Aug. (

speaking of temperatures, today in middle Tennessee it hit 63 degrees, it is now dropping and isn't spose to stop till it reaches 15 degrees tomorrow night.
Come on, that just ain't right !!
