I am still a bit stumped about what to do in corsica. We are pretty sure we will stick with Disneys excursions for this port if we do anything. We thought about hanging around the beach which apparently is right off the port. I would love to visit Les Calanches but we are a party of 6 and two of our party are ages 7 and 9. We also have to take into account the fact that we will be there on sunday so many places will be closed. What are everyones plans when we hit corsica? I have heard it is the most beautiful of the ports we will visit.

I'm with you - we're stumped on what to do. I have zero plans, and I feel like I should start looking into it so we don't just get there and wander around. I was thinking about the Petit train, but really not sure about that.

DH and I are going to do Les Calanches :) Really wanted to do Prunelli Gorges and Treats but it got cancelled :( So Les Calanches seem the next best especially since we are trying to do both scenic tours and historical tours on the cruise to mix it up, plus I love views and such. So excited.

I was interested in AlohaJoe23's idea of renting a van(s) and doing something on our own but I guess he's dropped that idea. The DCL tour to Cargese, Piana and Porto for the Calanches is $129/person which is pretty steep. It does look like beautify scenery. I'll look into renting a van/car and see what the rates are. :car:

Is a 10:45am flight on debarkation day fairly safe to make? We're packing light, so should only have carry-ons, and are on Deck 2. I would think we should be off the boat fairly quick.

I'm ball-parking 45mins to off-load/catch a cab, 30min trip to Airport, and 45mins for security...should be at gate by 10am...:confused3 Does that sound reasonable?

From past trip reports it seem like getting off the boat goes pretty quick, as well as BCN security lines.

DH and I are doing the DCL tour of Les Calanches. It's expensive but it's what I really wanted to see...not really interested in all the Napoleon themed stuff. I wanted to rent a car but being that it's Sunday...I couldn't find a rental place open plus, I read the terrain is pretty rough for driving in some parts so we'll just bite the bullet. Les Calanches is listed as one of the 1000 places to see before you die so it should be great!

The Magic is scheduled in port at 4:00 am. I'm sure passengers will be cleared to disembark by 7 am. In 2007, it took us 30 minutes to pick up our bags and get in a cab. You should be at the gate by 9:15 to 9:30 at the latest.

On Corsica, just finished an online chat with a rental company: They wanted 255 Euro for a Ford Fiesta for 7 hours! No vans available through them. I'll keep checking.

We would be down for a car rental. I found a Minivan/Minibus that seats approx. 9 (Renault Traffic 1.9 Dci Combi) for €240 via Avis at the Ajaccio Airport.

OMG Jeff that's so expensive, I’ve just found 2 door OPEL CORSA with Auto Europe for £58.80 GBP pick up at 10.00 until 5.00 apparently it with Hertz and its only a short walk from the port.

I've used different booking options and most have looked at Avis and I checked Avis directly and in every case it says "Sold Out". You sure you're checking the right day?

I didn't actually hit "Book"...Just went back and tried again and it seems like it wants me to setup a reservation. This is on Avis.fr...It also says "Confirmation of availability within 72 hours maximum".

We booked the DCL excursion to the Tortoise Protection Center. We have a three year old so it sounded like a nice drive to see the countryside and a low-key half day tour.

I wouldn't risk it, but then, I'm easily stressed by things like missing flights. I'm betting that a large number of people are going to be trying to get off the boat right at 7. And I've read at least 45 minutes to the airport (we're docking on a Wednesday. Think rush-hour traffic). And remember it's an international flight. 45 minutes to get through security may or may not be enough. If you're off by 15 minutes here or there, you could be running to the gate 10 minutes before your flight, at which time they may or may not let you board.

ABD is taking us to the Prunelli River Gorges, and then to a Corsican candy factory. :confused3 Not so sure about the nougat factory, but the Gorges sound nice!

We have rented car for around $120 that holds 5 I think. We are still planning on doing the zipline/rope adventure course at least the family is. I am designated photographer. That park is in same town as tortoise sanctuary but we have plenty of those at Honolulu zoo and family knows zookeeper so we have fed those already. After the adventure park we plan on doing the loop through the Prunelli gorge and back to town to find that candy factory. We could change and do Les Calanches.

Anyone that wants to share a cab to airport to get rent a car at 7:30 can contact me. I couldn't find an agency in town that was open for sure. I rented from SIXT.com and with the euro continuing down you can get the smaller car for as low as $106. We rented the Peugot which is down to $111 now.

Here is a quick google map. A trip to Les Calanches and Parc Aventure would be 3 hours of driving time according to Google.

Where is this at? Is it a DIS excursion?

No, I found it on Ajaccio board of cruisecritics as the best excursion for the adventure traveller. Having a 19 and 21 year old on this cruise I needed to plan some of these types. Disney doesn't offer it. Not sure which cruise company does.
