For sheer beauty I'm not sure any place can surpass the Amalfi coast. I'm looking forward to returning there too and spending time in Sorrento and Positano.
Oh, good! Is Sorrento considered part of the Amalfi Coast? Because the ABD goes to Sorrento & then to Capri, but not to Positano. I was afraid I was missing the actual Amalfi Coast...

I'm looking forward to returning to the Amalfi Coast also. It's so amazingly beautiful!!

received our cruise documents today. So it's official, we got 6508!!! Yeah for an upgrade. My frist cruise and first trip to Europe. I hope I can keep up the positive momentum :goodvibes

What is ABD?
Adventures by Disney. They are a division of Disney that does land-based tours. They have an add-on for some of the Med cruises (it's new for this year) where all your excursions are run by Adventures by Disney, and they have special events onboard for the people on the ABD tour (a special animation class, a session with the Ship's Historian, dinner at Palo with a wine tasting, a dessert reception on the last night). Plus we have 2 dedicated ABD Adventure Guides who basically act as our concierge while we're on the ship and our guides while we're ashore. Everything is included while ashore (transportation, entry fees, private tour guides & their tips, meals, etc.) The ABD's are limited to 40 people per cruise. I, Christyvoltron & her hubby, and Walt52 & her traveling companions are all signed up for the ABD for our cruise. It's basically an ultra-Med tour, with the Magic as our hotel.

Do you know if the packages have to be purchased before the cruise? or does the same deal apply onboard?

Thanks,
RRC

They can be purchased ahead of time. There's a downloadable form at the DCL link you can fill out and fax/mail in. Might also be able to call them. You can also purchase the packages on board.

Well, technically no; however, having seen the northern coastline and the southern coastline of the Sorrento peninsula, they look very similar. If anything, the water along the southern coast is more blue than in the Bay of Naples.

Hey Cindy, I talked to DCL about cruise documents. I was told I would not receive them in my APO before the cruise. Just need to fil out the on-line documents and they will take care of the luggage tags at the dock. hehehe...the dock!!!!:cool1::love:

Thanks, but Disney said they wouldn't send my trip documents last year to an APO address and I ended up getting them. I wonder if they meant that we wouldn't get them in time or if they don't send them to APOs?

I've found that they don't always know what they are talking about. Earlier this year I wanted to link my dining reservations to my resort reservations for our trip to WDW in September and book my 180 + 10 that they allow. The cast member that answered my email told me that it wasn't possible to do, that I actually had to call Disney dining to do that. Then I was on the Mom's panel, TGMike, and the disboards and found out how to do it. I emailed the cast member back and told him that I could do it and thanks for the help anyway. He sent me back an email asking ME how to do it so he would know how for the next person that asked.:rotfl2::rotfl: I couldn't believe I had to explain it to him, and that is what he is there for!!!!

I'll still keep my fingers crossed. Having those documents in my hands just makes it a little more real for me.

Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else on this board. I'm in Early Seating for dinner and it looks like the majority of you are on Late seating. I'm on a waiting list for Late seating. Don't know if we will get it or not.

Heard back from the concierge. Ill copy the reply to the board. The good news is they will be doing the tasting on the first at sea day but no time yet. I have added everyone to the board and if your name is not on the next post I place below then please PM me so I can check and add you to the board. There were a couple of people who gave me names but no reservation number or the other way around and I will be PMing you if necessary. Here is her email to me today...

Hello Rob,

Thank you for the information. wow...and keep growing :)

The tasting is going to take place on 05-16-2010 (first day at sea). We do not have the time or location at this time. I will not be able to provide you with that information until a week prior to the sail date.

At this time, if you can have all the names for me by 05-06-2010 and a total count so the Concierge & food and Beverage Manager will find the correct location for the tasting. :)

In regards to the Euro Exchange, we are don't have an exchange rate at this time. sorry :)

We look forward to sailing with you!

Have a Magical day!

If I haven't said it before - thanks to all who have put in xtra time and effort for all of us. This is falling together so nicely. Now the hard part is not to talk "vacation" 24/7 at work. But how do we contain the excitement.

Hi

Is it to late to join the wine tasting. If not, it would be for 1 person

Thanks

Yes, no problem adding anyone but I need you to PM me both full names and reservation numbers. The concierge will then attatch your reservation for the wine tasting to your room charge. The expense will be $15/person. Just include the full name of each person and the reservation number for your room.

Is anyone arriving in Barcelona early? My family plans on getting to Barcelona 2.5 days early and we are starting to plan precruise events. We are staying in a hotel near Montjuice (sp). We get in early in the morning on Thursday and thought we would get to the hotel, kick back and tour the spanish village and the fountains that night. The next day we thought we would do the hop on hop off to visit the cathedrals and Gaudi and Picaso sites. Finally on Saturday we thought we would check in to the ship and then go to the aquarium with the kids. Just curious what other people were doing if getting there early. Barcelona is apparently one of the most beautiful ports and I would hate to miss anything there. Im starting to get extremely excited about the trip!

I'm arriving the morning of the 14th and staying at the Novotel. I'm planning on doing the HOHO bus (does anyone else conjure up a chocolate baked treat or maybe I'm just hungry) and walking down Las Ramblas.

I'm super excited also! My countdown timer on my work computer is at 30 days and some change today!

We too are arriving early and staying after the cruise. We are at the Hilton Diagonal and will be doing the Hop on Hop Off blue route on Friday, the red route upon return.

Does anyone else fly out of Atlanta ? We fly from Minneapolis to Atlanta then directly into Barcelona. It seems like there are quite a few flying from the south up to New York then to the Netherlands or France.

Our trip starts in 4 weeks and a day.
