Have you tried calling DCL to see if you can catch up with the boat at Malta or Tunis? Or is that not feasible either?

Not feasable with US Air and cost prohibitive with other airlines.

It is with heavy heart that we write to say we have canceled this trip. We are not able to get into Barcelona in a reasonable time. We started out yesterday at 3PM from Orlando and flew into Philadelphia. After a 12 hour delay and being on the tarmac for 3 hours US Air Finally officially canceled the flight at 5:30 AM this morning.When called to rearrange flight they said the earliest they could get us there was Sunday. Our flight was canceled due to Operational issues.

What about flying through Newark? Continental and Lufthansa have tickets for routings for tomorrow. ETA: tickets are $1200 roundtrip.

I'm not 100% sure what the absolute latest is but I would guess it's 9:30 to 10 am.

That's BS. They should work with you to get you on another airline for the rate you paid them.

I'm ok with work in that i will be non-contactable for work til 1 June. The firm i work for are pretty good about work-life balance and my immediate boss is very keen on your time out of the office being your time. SO i am infinitely grateful for that.

I wa sonly paniced about the ole netboook because if i get stuck in Barcelona because of the BA strike i think the management would be ticked off that i hadn't planned ahead and at least had access to my email and word so that i can "try" and work remotely.

In my line of work its pretty difficlt to do the work without access to the files but i guess i could at aleast check drafts from my trainee and reply to client emails. Which might help me not have to use vacation days if i do get stuck.
Don't want to lose vacation days if i can possibly help it.

My work is pretty much the same. Pager, laptop, all staying behind. My co-worker will handle any issues. I told her I did get a global cell phone, and she can call me in the case of an extreme emergency, but she's really smart, and likely won't need to. I am ENJOYING this vacation, and hope to not even THINK about work while I'm gone!!!!

Well, we are all packed, the bags are in the car, and we leave work at 2:30 en route to the airport for our 5:55 pm departure to Madrid from DFW. So far, so good. The flight operated last night, but arrived one hour and 40 minutes late. We may miss our connection on Iberia, but if I'm in Madrid, I'll find a way to Barcelona!

I wish you all safe and enjoyable travels, and I really look forward to meeting some of you at the fountain Friday night!

Safe travels to all who are traveling today! We travel tomorrow. Will be looking for Jeff and maybe Sayhello. I am hoping and praying everything goes fine with our flights. After more than a year of planning I can't believe I can say.... I'm leaving tomorrow!!!!!!!

But, we will be in terminal 7 sometime after 630pm. Our Jet Blue flight lands into Terminal 5 and then we have to take the AirTrain over or maybe we can walk not sure at this point. I hope your flight is ontime but if not I think I can be able to recognize you from your roll call photo.

We are at the tri cities airport about to board our flt to Atlanta. As of now, the flight is scheduled as a "high priority" to depart by delta whatever that means. Anyone have a more up to date report on the ash cloud? I would love to know what I'm flying into. I hope my plane doesn't suck ash.

That sucks. Seriously, seriously sucks.

So "my flight" was delayed yesterday by 3 1/2 hours. But here's the kicker: it *arrived* on time! What I believe happened is this: the flight goes *through* Madrid (some people get off, some get on, the rest of us stay on & go to Barcelona). I'm thinking they skipped Madrid, went straight to Barcelona, then got the folks to Madrid afterwards, because the flight that says JFK to Madrid came in 4 hours late! Honestly, I wouldn't mind that! But again, at this point, I'm happy with whatever configuration gets me to Barcelona in time for the cruise!!!!

BTW, DH works with some fighter pilots who say they should not be cancelling flights unless there is another eruption. FWIW. (Delta is a whole other animal. Haven't flown them since they closed the door on my husband as he was standing at the gate and the plane proceeded to sit there for another hour)

Are you joking... what is with that. I have never flown Delta but DCL did all the arranging so we are in Mickey's hands. Friday seems so far away,but back to packing. I think I'm the last one to fly. I used to fly Delta all the time. But they have gotten to where their service sucks so badly that I will only fly them if there's no other option. I mean, seriously! Leaving your husband standing there, just so they could say they "left" on time? And then not actually leaving? Good grief!

I've flown Delta quite a bit since they were the NASA contract air line to Florida. They used to be pretty good but it seems the merger with Northwest has hurt their performance. Now our contract air is with US Air (we call them US Scare)...I think they're the only airline I fly that I would say is worse than Delta.

I think closing the doors qualifies them for on time status. I think all airlines/hotels (most companies) are lacking service lately. I feel like a cranky old lady.
