May Med Magic - May 15 2010 - Meet thread - Part 2

Think I may have to try visit WDW in October or November for Food and Wine Festival time :woohoo:
Blake,
I have to be in New Orleans for a week of training in October but if you are going around that time let me know and perhaps it would work for a stop on the way or way back.

Mike

Will be interested in seeing what you think of the Potter experience. We are doing Christmas at WDW and my sister and her family want to do Potter for a day - was thinking we would let them go the day before we get there.

I'll be sure to post back! I'll admit, I'm not a big Universal fan and really don't want to spend a whole day there, but I love the Potter books, so I have to check out HP land and see what it's all about. I figure we'll spend the morning and afternoon doing that and then head back to AKV to relax for the night.

I popped over to see if this board is still alive and..... Yep! You guys are awesome.

Same here, amazed it's still active! We booked Aug 2011 for Alaska but noticed prices are coming down for next year's med cruises. DH is tempted to go back and I'm not going to stand in the way of temptation... :rolleyes1 until then I'm going to continue to remind him about our wonderful cruise in the mediterranean!

We are on the August 30 Alaska which one did you book ?

We are currently being tempted by the Cat 12 gty rates for the dover to barcelona repo. My sister really wants to go on the magic so i'm working on my parents and sister today to see if we can persuade them to go with us.

They came back from Disneyland Paris yesterday and their ferry came into Dover while the Magic was there. My sister was so excited to have seen her which is what set me thinking on trying to persuade them to sail the dover-barca repo.

Obviously we'd have to go too to show them the ropes on the ship as it were :rotfl::thumbsup2

The rates really are incredible... especially when you're in UK and don't have to pay the outrageous flights. I'd be tempted to do that one too if only we have any vacation time left for this year!

Well Heath and I are 99% certain we're going on the dover-Barcelona repo, especially as we can transfer the dummy booking and keep the $200 OBC (ok you don't get the 10% discount but we'll make another dummy booking onboard)

Still working on persuading my parents to go. My sister is sold, so i have a cunning plan. If i offer to take her without my parents (she's 19 after all) and say i'll pay half her fare, then i'm pretty sure my parents will cave and come along too. The thing is i know they'll love it - it's just getting them to agree to come along.

Anyway - it's brightening my monday morning immensely - planning a trip so soon. It's a disease people and I'm proud to have it :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Which one are you planning to take (Dover - Barcelona)? Are you talking this year or next? I was trying to decide whether to cancel the med cruise next year and book a Dover - Barcelona, but haven't made my decision yet. It's either that or a transatlantic.

Glad to hear that next years prices are dropping, now I'm going to have to go back and check it out.

Miss everyone from the cruise and hope to see you all on another cruise in the future. We are definately going to take more.

Cindy

Dover to barcelona in July for this year, the Cat 12 GTY rates are v good and as we only need one plane fare back to the UK at the end it makes it really cost effective. We are booked on it now and my parents/sister are booking today.

Sounds appealing!! Who are you booking with?? Am desperate to go again but not with Virgin...

Booked via Dreams Unlimited (the US based agent). Booking through them is same price as booking direct with DCL, but you also get $150 onboard credit. Cat 12 GTY is $849 for the 1st 2 adultsand a third adult is $799 plus port taxes (total is approx (approx £650 sterling). We've picked up a one way flight back from Barcelona to East midlands (our local airport) including 18kg luggage each for £95.

Going down to Dover we are hiring a car from Alamo which can be dropped off 5 mins walk from cruise terminal.

We reckon it's £800 per person for the two of us - flight, car hire, hotel before and 8 nt cruise. The only thing we've not priced is a night in barcelona at the end as bmibaby don't fly back on a saturday.

I looked on iglu out of interest and their price was £1509 per person for an inside cabin including one way flight back to gatwick but as far as i can tell no transfers to Dover.

I don't know the kids prices but if you're seriously interested price it up on the DCL website and do the flights yourself. The UK based travel agents a rea complete and utter rip off (as the iglu price for the same category and less transfers shows) I assume kids will be cheaper than the adults $849/799 too

Did anyone complete the online survey that DCL emailed recently? T

owards the end of the survey there was a section asking about the likelihood that you would go on a future DCL cruise. Along with the Bahamian, Caribbean, etc. there was a section with two eastern med. E.g. Venice, Greece, Turkey.

It would just be amazing to be on the Magic in those places (wistful sigh).

We didn't get one but i had heard about the survey mentioning the eastern med ports. Venice is a brilliant place so DCL there would be really cool

yes we responded and listed Venice as somewhere we would definitely do a DCL cruise. DW is going to Greek Islands over Spring break with a school tour, I will stay home with the dogs.

We'd like that one as well. Susan went to Venice 4 years ago. I've not been and neither of us has done Greece or Turkey.

Hi everyone, nice to see people posting still on here.

Jayne the Dover repo sounds a really good deal, it will be cool posting with your family. Unfortunately we couldnt take advantage of the offer as we are on the Transatlantic.

We have booked the Med cruise, when we were onboard for next year,
June 8th . Anyone else on that cruise ?.
