May Madness?

We have been going to WDW in the middle of May, before Memorial Day, for the past 7 years. It has always been a less crowded time to visit. Now with the 50th Anniversary of WDL, and the new Disney TV commercials, it appears that WDW will be packed the whole month of May. My question is this. Is there any way that I could persuade a few thousand of you May come lately people to attend WDW at a different time? :rolleyes1 Allright I'm sorry I worded the question a little too heavy handed. :guilty: How is this STAY AWAY FROM MY PARK FROM 5/13-5/20 :teeth: .......I know I know that didn't sound any better.....I am losing focus on my original message. The more the merrier!!!! I can't wait until we are elbow to elbow with everyone in the parks. I am looking forward to waiting a little longer :hourglass with everyone to eat. And the resort pool is great when experienced with others :grouphug: BTW I'm only joking :rotfl2: come one come all!!! After going to Disney 10 plus times, the crowds only affirm that I'm at the right place on my vacation!!

See you ALL there!

You are still the lucky one---I have to wait until JUNE 2006 to be there again. ;)

I feel the special events planned and new attractions that are opening will more than make up for the extra crowds, have a great time. :flower:

We'll be there on the same dates at POFQ. Where are you staying??

Now here is some pixie dust :wizard: to make the time before go faster. :earboy2:

hey - it won't be fun alone....

besides look at all the extra hours that the parks are having....

We are staying at POR the first 4 days, and then at the POLY the last 3 days. Hope to see you on the bus at POR, look for a guy with blonde hair and a goatee with his family. :teeth:

We'll be there the 13th - 21st. I was kind of hoping that the crowds would be there from the 5th - 12th and then everything would be magically back to normal May-level crowds. :wizard:

On the Attractions and Stragities board there was a thread asking about the May crowds. I answered it that the place would be very crowded at least during the week of May 5th. Several others posters than stated the crowds would not be much more than normal if raised at all during May. I guess no one knows for certain. My guess is it will be very crowded for the week of May5th at least..smjj

I've done what I can to make certain that I don't arrive before 5/20! Actually, we arrive 5/20 and leave 5/24, which is a week earlier than our usual Memorial Day trip, but we can't get away for Memorial Day this time, and my birthday is 5/23, which means I can celebrate it at WDW! (Actually, it will be at Chefs de France in Epcot.)

My family plans on going in May 2006. Last year we went in August before school started and very hot. We were really surprised DD made it through the heat.

For our next trip we wanted to try a different time of year. Planning on being there during Mother's Day weekend :teeth: . Plus at that time, the kids only have a week or a week and a half left of school. By that time the teachers are done teaching the important stuff and like the kids have their sights on summer vaca. LOL!!! Plus I figured I wouldn't get as much greif from the school when I have to ask if my kids can be out of school for that amount of time to go with us. I think that is ridculous I have to have their permission for my kids to go on vaca.

Thanks for doing your part although no one is getting the joke. :confused3

I purposely picked the 2nd week of our vacation May 15-20 to see WDW parks. I was so clever avoiding: Mother's Day, 50th celebration opening, Memorial Day, Spring Break....... :rolleyes1

Que Sera, Sera, whatever will be, will be, the future's not ours to see, Que sera, sera. :music:

I'm just going to have a good time. I hope you will too!

To add to the May madness...

I just read a post that Regis and Kelly will be there May 9 - 13...that will also cause more crowding.

Do they do the show from MGM....does anyone know? I think that's where they were in the past...

I'm gonna be there May 8 - 11...so I might see them.

Just wanted to say we went that same time a couple of years ago and it was not crowded and the weather was good. But like u said it is the celebration thang!! The kids here get out of school @ the end of May so, that's good for u!!! Have Fun!

Thanks for the laugh! That is how I feel about the month of January! That is MY MONTH...it better stay that way! :rotfl:

I am hoping...praying...crossing my fingers....that may 1,2 and 3 will not be too bad. We are celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary with our first trip ever without DD! Honestly, we don't even plan to do the parks...just a lot of boozin and eating all over the different resorts. We will be at OKW but are on the waitlist for BWV (we are renting DVC points.)

Lets hope for low crowds. :wizard:

We are going May 7-16th and when I have called about different PS & ressie info, it seems that the feeback I am getting is that the hotels do book up even during non-peak times and not to worry - is this true or am I being delusional.

Also note that all the extra hours that were added to the disney schedule are now gone and they are back to the basics? What does this mean??

Thanks for the laugh :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I will not be there in May so 1 less person to worry about. Please could you not go in July as I will be there. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

hey OP, we're from OC nj also & will be arriving
at the BWV on May 13th.
Great minds think alike.
:love1:

We used to love going in May in the early to mid 1990s. However after our last trip in 2003, never again. It was insanely crowded. I'd take July or August any day over May.
