May/June Codes watch....

I remember from 2004 that I booked our June trip after we got home from our Disney Spring Break trip on April 3rd. I must have booked it in mid April and I really had a great selection to choose from at far as the Resorts go. We booked 2 one week stays with no problem. I wonder how long the codes had been out? I just got lucky because up until summer of 2004 I didn't know there were codes. Also, I have noticed that Expedia usually reflects the codes WDW is offering if you know the right dates. We booked our stay at the Contemoprary this last Christmas through Expedia at a better rate then Disney was offering with the code. The discount ended on Dec. 25th, 2004. If you put Dec. 26th in the search engine on Expedia it did not have a great rate but if you put in Dec 25th it was fantastic just like the code discount. I check rates on Expedia everyday. Have booked through them twice even when WDW is offering general public dicount rates and Annual Passholder rates.
COme on codes!! I want to know what exciting resort we will be staying in June!!

I agree, LauraAnn! I had never stayed at a Value resort before this past September, and now that I have, I don't know why we ever paid so much money at the other places. .

I feel the same way. Mind you I haven't spent a lot ($119 for AKL), like others do. We went to POR the first time, then did the last two nights at AKL, as I HAD to stay there. The last two times there that is where we have stayed. We felt we couldn't stay anywhere else, we loved it so much. But, we did All Star Movies last month and really really liked it. The room was fine for us and the theming is fun! We will do a value over a moderate anyday. Not saying we won't go back to AKL of course, but the values are great IMO! I will NEVER pay for any of the other Deluxe resorts!

Last Feb. the discounts for Disney Visa card holders came out. The general public codes didn't come out until March. If I remember correctly, we were all terribly anxious and convinced that no codes would be released then too!

Of course we might all be Disney Visa holders here, so if they come out with them this year, we will all be in good shape. But for those that aren't, they will most likely be waiting until early March. The Historical Trends chart has good odds for that late a date....but of course anything is possible! I too am waiting for them, but really need the AP rates.

Hi:

Does anyone remember how much the moderates were with a code last year in may/june.

This is what I have for AP codes last year.... :cool1:

WDW Annual Passholders can get special discounted rates for check-ins 4/18/04-7/4/04. So far the following rate has been reported:
• Value Resorts - $59

WooHoo, just what I wanted to see....$59! We have $59 right now, with an email pin that was my friends. She wants to upgrade to a package though and they will only let her and her family do that, and in turn knock us off the reservation all together. So, we will be rebooking under AP rates if we can. Glad it is the same!

memorymakers - Codes for Disney Visa customers were released starting February 20th according to mousesavers.com. That is what I remember because we were booking for a trip in May. I believe that the March 9th release were codes for anyone. Jay

Jay, I tend to focus on the "available to anyone" codes when posting about this...as most are "anyone". How many on here are Disney Visa holders??

I'm with you guys. We have ressies for WL(hoping for a code) if no discount is to be had we will stay value. We can afford moderate but they are way to spread out for us and for the amount of time we are in the room the value is just fine.

I'm staying at a moderate CBR for the first time. I have only done deluxe but after your comment I"m a little nervous. Is CBR spread out that much? I have looked at the map and read that it is a short walk to everythin within the resort. I would have thought a value would be worse. What am I missing?

We stayed at CBr last May. It really depends where your room is. We were in South Trinidad and it was not a short walk at all. My dd's (3&5) did not enjoy the resort at all. After walking all day I couldn't expect them to walk some more. For example there is an internal bus for CBR to take you to other parts of the resort. They don't have internal buses at All Stars. When we were at ASmovies our room was very convienent to food, main pool and buses. The room was a little smaller but we were not in it enough for it to be a problem. Our choice on a deluxe is closer to the MK(fav park). I don't mean to scare you we are just the type of family that perfers things closer and not as much grounds inbetween. My dd's are still asking why we can't go back to that 1st resort(AS Mov). :wave2: princess: princess:

How good is the Disney Visa discount? I have heard the AP passholder discounts up to 40 % but it is probably not worth it for me to get the passholder. I'm thinking of signing up for the Visa - is it worth it for me?

Disney Visa has not offered any WDW resort discounts in quite some time. I believe the last offer was for summer 2004. I called as soon as the discounts were available and was never able to obtain one for May '04.

In our last Disney Visa statement they had a 'deal' for a 2 bedroom at the Disney Hilton Head resort. I called the next day and they didn't have any available for the dates I wanted (even though I had just gotten the ad 24 hours earlier).

So that ended up not being such a great deal after all.

I called today to see how much it would be to bump our MYW package stay from POP to WL, it was over 900 dollars, OUCH! (for a six night stay). For us, we are on a tight budget that is way too much. I told the CM, "I'll just keep it at POP and hope codes come out soon", hoping he would say something, but he didn't, he was very nice too, but gave no indication of codes coming out shortly. I'm dying here, they better come!

I really hope someone gets a heads up soon. I'm not sure how many more days I can take the thought of going to work and missing the AP codes being released. I am sure many of you are in the same boat. The current ap codes were released on 12/27 for stays of 2/17-4/16.

And with all the pin/email/postcards they have sent out you would think the release of codes to the AP holders would be soon to follow.
Or a general public code would do. I just need a sign that they are coming...after getting the heat/electric bill yesterday I need something to cheer me up.

So heres some dancing a pixie dust throwing to help the DIsney people get on the ball and let us know when they are coming. :dancer: :dancer:

I am thinking positive, I will get a discount, I will get a discount, I will get a discount, I will get a discount, I will get a discount, I will get a discount, I will get a discount, I will get a discount. :wizard:

I am so positive that I now need your help in deciding between AK or WL? I currently have a reservation at CSR at the rack rate of $149.00 per night for 9 nights. Really would like to pay no more then $104.00 per night and I would be willing to change resorts to POR or POFQ, Really would have to think long and hard about CBR but would jump on it if I got a rate of $94.00 per night. I just would really like to be prepared in case I am given the option of a discount room at AK or WL for less then or equal to what I have already booked at CSR. I really don’t find the rooms in either that appealing; they look dark and somewhat drab to me. I would book a standard view so the animals will not be a factor. I originally thought that I would prefer the WL because of the location, boat ride to MK right? If the discounted rate difference is only $19.00 between a moderate and those two I think it would be a no brainer. I think I have heard that you can occasionally get those two for $123.00, if so and the moderate is only $94.00 my decision gets a little harder. I know it is only $29.00 a night more but I don’t know if the $261.00 will be worth it. :confused3

I would welcome any opinions on the subject so that I am better able to make a decision. Since I know we will all get a discount I would like to be prepared with an immediate answer if given the choices listed above.

Well, hello all my fellow Disney Friends who are waiting for the AP rates for Late April and beyond. I personally are waiting for MAY, as I and the rest of my family are heading up in May. From May 13 through the 21. We are planning a Grand Gathering. We are all living in Florida, so we only have to drive up to Walt's Magic Place. I have 4 rooms booked at the Wilderness Lodge. Its my favorite, as a history student of early America and Native American history. So, I like everyone else am waiting for those discounted rates. I have been saving each week for a year to cover the rack rate, and figured if the discount comes in I should have nearly a 1,000 to use as Disney FUN Money. I have my Seasonal Passes aready, and I only have to wait for my 90s out so I can order my Grand Gathering Events, as well as, priority seating dining. I just can't Wait. As I am sure everyone else here is.

Based on last year, I believe that with the Available to the Public - Room Only Code - the standard rooms at Mods were $94 and the Water/King/Preferred type rooms were $104. I *think* AKL/WL were probably more like $150? I remember it was quite a difference. For some comparison - currently the email/postcard rates I've gotten for May look like this:
Mod Standard $79
Mod King/Water/Preferred: $95
WL Standard: $124
WL Woods: $137
WL Courtyard: $156.

So it would seem - add about $15-20 to each of those, and that'd be about what they may be with a Public code???

ITA! Having stayed at both levels, we will never pay the extra for a moderate again over a value. I just don't see the reason to. They are way too spread out. The first time we were at POR, it rained and I mean POURED rain all week we were there. So, going to the main building was horrible, as of course we were about as far as we could get from it.

Thanks Blonde. Oh well, I'm still gonna be prepared for the GREAT deal that we all we be able to get because of those discounts. If I can't get a moderate discount but I can get a disocunt at $149.00 a night at WL or AK the decision will be easy. Who am I kidding, Disney never makes the decisions easy.

AK or WL, pro's and con's please?
