My dear sweet dog, Heidi died yesterday. She was in heart failure. As a puppy she was only given 3 years to live as she had aortic stenosis. I guess Boxers are proned to heart problems. She beat the odds and lived until almost 8. I miss her so very much and can't stop crying. I know she is in a much better place, but I guess I am just selfish since I can't let go. If you are willing, I would appreciate any prayers and PD you can give. Thank you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Even though you knew she was very sick, it is still very hard to lose a pet. Sending prayers your way. Take care.

I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers to you in your loss of Heidi. :grouphug:

Losing a family pet is one of the worst things we go through in life, I think. Hope Heidi's memories warm you in the days to come. :grouphug:

I am so, so sorry to hear about your dog. My friend has a boxer and they are just the sweetest, cutest things. You are in my thoughts, losing a dog is so hard.

when we had to put our dalmatian to sleep three years ago .....I said no more doggies.....to much heartache ......but we got one 18 months ago and Megara is the love of our life........she is such a joy to have and full of you know what.....Yes doing it made us know that we love them and they love us......what more could we ask for......
My heart aches for you too......hugs :grouphug:

I am sooooo sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so sad, my sister lost her 20 year old cat two weeks ago and she is still a wreck.

I've lost so many pets, the pain is so real. God bless you, honey.

Your kind words are comforting. Thank you all.

The past 4 (or more) weeks, I have slept downstairs on the couch with her as she could no longer make it up stairs. She had several beds put throughout the downstairs since she was so ill. We fed her anything she would eat (with our vets blessing). I know she knew how much we all loved her........and still do. Thank you for taking the time to read about Heidi. She was the sweetest dog......and member of our family.

Heidi will always be in your memories, dumboiu. It sure is obvious how much you loved little Heidi. And know well she is there, by that bridge, with so many others, waiting for that day, but playing in the meantime.......

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Again, thanks to all of you. I do appreciate your good thoughts and prayers.

Funny how pets wiggle their way into your heart and become a much loved member of the family.

I am so sorry that Heidi died.

This thread has reminded me of the loss of our (OK, mostly my wife's) dog Duke who we lost last October. I can still feel the loss when I think about him, but mostly I remember the good things even now. We have since added CoCo (a golden retriever adopted from a rescue group) to our lives.

I wish you the best through your grief and I hope you are comforted by the positive memories. You had many good years with Heidi and she obviously knew she was well loved. In time, you will again be able to spread that love with more four-footed friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like Heidi was a wonderful companion who really beat the odds and you were a wonderful, loving and caring "mom" to her. :grouphug:

All of your kind words regarding my sweet Heidi mean so very much to me. While they bring tears to my eyes, they are also very comforting. Thanks to all of you for being out there. While I don't know any of you personally, I want you to know that your words have touched me greatly.

So sorry for the loss of your beloved pet. It's always so hard when we lose them.
