Hello there,

I just wanted to introduce myself to everybody as I have lurking around and reading this wonderful board for a while now. I have learnt an amazing amount about WDW and other areas, I can't thank you all enough.

I have not been to WDW since 1991 when I went with my parents when I was aged 14. I'm now a much bigger 28 year old and I am about to head out again with my wife to be on our honeymoon in September.

We are getting married on the 10th September and flying out to MCO on the 12th with Virgin. I have just taken the plunge and upgraded us to Premium Economy. I hope it's worth the difference. I have reserved us seats in the upstairs cabin as I have heard that this is the nicest place to be. Although I am a bit annoyed at Virgin as they have just informed me that they have cancelled our flight and moved us on to another and this meant we had lost the seats we had reserved. When I went to reserve seats on the new flight I got the last two seats that were sitting together upstairs - a close thing. I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't sit next to my wife on my honeymoon.

Once we get to Orlando we are staying at the WL for nine nights and then at the Universal HRH for another nine nights. The we fly back home on the 30th.

My wife to be has never been to WDW before, although we have been to DLP several times. However I am sure that the sheer scale and wonder of WDW will amaze her. I think it is hard for people who haven't been to WDW to comprehend just how big it is. You wouldn't believe the number of people that I have had to tell that WDW is not just one theme park - it's a whole resort!

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. If anybody has some good tips that will help us enjoy our honeymoon, then please do tell.

Thanks,
Stephen.

Hello, and what a wonderful trip you have planned for your honeymoon in September. We used to stay at the Comfort Inn LBV back in the early nineties - great location but basic - and I'm sure you'll find the WL and HRH suitably 'special'. You may already know this, but there is a Walt Disney World for Couples book and also The Unoffical Guide to Walt Disney World for Grown-Ups - that's if you don't get enough tips here ;) . Enjoy the planning.

Excellent, thanks. I will check those books out. They can add to the ever increasing strain on my bookcase :)

Hi Stephen

Just writing to wish you well for the future and to say hi!!

If you check in early enough with Virgin you should still be able to reserve very good seats. Make sure you tell everyone it's your honeymoon!! It was our 10th anniversary last time and we got a free upgrade to a presidential suite at the Rosen when I told them.

I'll be staying at the HRH when you are there, I'll buy you and your wife a celebratory drink if I see you.

Kev

Hi Stephen

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! My husband and I got married in 1999 and then had a honeymoon in WDW - similar to you - I had been as a child and DH had never been! We both loved it and did not regret it as a honeymoon choice. We stayed at the All Star Movies & we loved that so I am sure your deluxe hotels will be even better. John was amazed by everything & it was wonderful to share it all with him for the first time.

We did not know about many special things for honeymooners - but we did have it on our reservation and we had a cute card from Mickey & Minnie & a toy Mickey & Minnie waiting in our room for us which was a wonderful surprise.

You and your wife should buy the Mickey & Minnie bride & groom hats to wear becuase you will get lots of good wishes from everyone.
Best Wishes,
Claire

Hi and welcome to DIS

I can highly recommend the Brits Guide to Orlando and Walt Disney World. It's a fantastic book and I wouldn't dream of going without it.

Hope you have a fantastic honeymoon and everything goes smoothly for you.

Hello  Your honeymoon trip sounds lovely :) I'm sure whatever you do you will have a wonderful time :)

Michelle

 welcome to the dis

its my birthday on the 10th september so i hope you have a special day :)

Welcome and Congratulations !!!!

The Wilderness Lodge and Hard Rock are great resorts, we stayed in both this past April :)

Have you got some lovely meals booked?

Wow, what a fabulous honeymoon you have booked. The WL is fantastic!

Will you be eating at Artist Point at the WL? I have heard only rave reviews about it :)

I like the ideas about getting a book for "couples" to enjoy romantic things together  as recommended by Pootle :)

I wish you a fantastic wedding and a super honeymoon. How could it not be? ;)

Welcome to the Dis :)

Hi and welcome,

We're there sept 13-27 so hope to see you in the wedding hats around the parks!!

Enjoy your special day, and then a great honeymoon to look forward to!

Thanks to everybody for you well wishes and tips.

I've already got the Brit's Guide book, it's excellent and I have read it from cover to cover. It's certainly going to get squeezed into the suitcase (somehow).

We haven't book any meals yet but we have a big list of places that we want to for cosy meals together. Were thinking of -
California Grill
Artist Point
Jiko
Boma
bluezoo

Anybody else have any suggestions.

We're a bit nervous about Whispering Canyon, which is at our hotel. Judging by the reviews it seems to be a bit too lively for a romantic meal.

If you are there when we are I'm sure you'll be able to spot us due to the big grins on our face :-)

Thanks,
Stephen.

You may be right - it wouldn't be the obvious choice for a romantic meal, but it would probably be memorable! As you're staying in WL, maybe you could have a look at WC and decided then whether you'd like to dine there. WC is on a partitioned mezzanine level of the main WL lobby, so it's easy to see/hear the atmosphere in there without actually going in to the restaurant.

Hi and Welcome:wave2:

I would've loved to spend my honeymoon in WDW, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Hi SJC,
We will be "travelling together" as we are going out to get married on the same flight !
I have sent you a personal message.
Regards.
Russ

Hi there,
I was just like you it took me ages to pluck up the courage to post, now I can't keep off the boards.
My DH and I are taking my twin sis in just over 2 weeks, like your wife she's never been to WDW before and my DH and I can't wait to see the look on her face.

As far as tips for WDW goes...
Try and see more than your hotel bedroom...lol
Have a great time.
Jue :flower:

Check out our itinerary..it may be a bit heavy going for honeymooners...lol
