One of my kids started throwing up yesterday. I have 2 other kids that I'm hoping and praying don't get it but if someone does and we have to cancel does anyone have any idea where I can sell my tickets I bought from DL.com? I don't want to get in trouble selling them, but we can't be out $1000 either and they expire 12/31 so if we don't go this next week, we can't go at all before the end of the year.

Any ideas? Is it legal to sell them on ebay?

I'm so sorry to hear that you might have to cancel, but unfortunately it is against Disney policy to sell the tickets anywhere, whether on eBay or through any other means. In fact, you're not even permitted to discuss it on the boards. You're allowed to give them away as gifts, but not sell or trade them :(

No way at all to reschedule, huh?

I thought I did remember someone on here posting that they will still retain their value, you'd just have to pay to upgrade them to the current price when you do get to go again. Can anyone confirm that?

Actually, I thought the rule was as long as they haven't been used yet, you can sell them. I'd call or email them just to be sure.

In cases of buying tickets, Disney has SOMETIMES refunded the value (if you're cancelling because someone got sick/etc.). I wouldn't count on it but it is worth trying.

Otherwise, yes, I've always heard that regular (non-party) tickets retain the value you paid for them. Again, Disney is the main source for info, but sometimes they don't know their own policies as well as some folks here. :rolleyes1 If you call Disney and they say they DO retain their value, though, you're good.

Here's hoping your kid gets better and the others stay well, though! :wizard:

The back of a Disneyland ticket clearly reads:

"Not for resale. Nonrefundable. Nonstransferable."

It doesn't matter if it has been used or not.

I called and the woman told me that even though they technically "expire" on 12/31 that they are still good after that but they are only worth the price we paid for them. So if the price increases again (which it will) We will be responsible for paying the difference between what we paid for them and what the new ticket price is.

So yes, they retain their original value so we're not sunk if we can't go.

Mods, feel free to delete this if needs be. I got my answer :)

Good to hear, and thanks for posting Disney's response. We get questions like this a lot and I'm glad you confirmed what I thought was true for future reference.

When in doubt, always call Disney first to ask about the policy on your tickets. Yes, there is the official policy, but Disney does look at special circumstances in each case. We've had to cancel tickets in the past, and Disney has always been very helpful in either refunding us (yes, it can happen depending on your circumstances) or crediting us for the tickets.

Glad you got your answer... just wanted to send well wishes for health in your family. :goodvibes Hope your kiddo is better soon (and that no one else gets it!)

I had expired tickets that were unused. I went to City Hall and I asked them what I could do, the CM and her supervisor both came out and they said that I could send them to an address and they would refund the value that the tickets were worth on a Disney gift card. They provided me the address and said that I should make a copy of the front and back before I mailed it.

I asked this same question during an AP special event, when they had the Soundsational private parade. The CM at City Hall, went to the back and came back with the same answer I got the first time.

So both times, 2 different CMs, 2 different months, one during a regular park day and one during an AP holders only special event. So, I'm fairly sure that, expired, non-used tickets can be refunded for the face value of the ticket onto a Disney gc.

I haven't had the time to mail in the tickets though, but I will soon.
