May cancel upcoming trip- help understanding the points

Hi, we are probably going to cancel our first trip as DVC owners and I'm hoping for help to make sure I'm understanding everything correctly. I purchased 150 pts direct in Feb and got the Oct 2020 points, which I banked. I booked a 1/2022 trip with those banked points, my Oct 2021 points and 13 borrowed pts from Oct 2022. If I cancel, is this correct:
*I'll lose the 13 borrowed points
*the 2020 points will be returned but will expire 9/30/2022
*the 2021 points will be returned and can be banked by 5/31/2021
Is this correct? Anything else I'm missing? Thanks-

You're correct except for the borrowed points. They will go in "Holding" and must be used by 9/30/2022

The points only go into holding if the trip is canceled less than 31 days before check in.

So, as long as the trip in Jan 2022 is canceled far enough in advance, the points are returned without penalty,

Borrowed points, however, stay in the UY of the trip and therefore, will still expire 9/30/2022.

They will be stuck in the current UY and cannot be "unborrowed." Holding is not the right term to use because it means something different in regard to DVC points.

If you cancel due to Covid, it is worth calling Member Services. They may be able to help you preserve your points. They have been doing this on a case by case basis.

The 13 borrowed points are only lost if the OP doesn’t travel before 9/30/2022.

But the can be used for a different trip with no other restrictions.
