Monday morning, wake up call at 730am. To refresh I am dad-37yo, DS is Christopher, 6yo, 4TH trip to disney world, DB is David, 48yo, buddy, my best man, florida resident, and DF is Donna, fiance 36yo, first vacation ever, period.
I bounce out of bed once again, everyone is lying still.
So I prepare myself, and by the time I'm out and ready, there is life. I go outside and smell the smoke. I would say the whole time we were there, I could smell it 1/2 the time.
We have made our preparations and consumed some vittles and I depart for coffee. This would soon become a tradition for me and DF. We would stop and get cash at the ATM, she kept running out. My DB would be at the front entrance in the drive, volvo running and pointing to wdw resort. Well, we were off! I got the camcorder out(long day ahead) and videotaped our entrance in( I always thought MGM has the coolest entrance. So we pay our $6 and we park. Everyone is unloading, we are close enough to walk up to gates. Last year there were characters in the plaza, none this time, so we go in.
I this point I will say that I had earlier gone to Jane's gift of a life time site and had bought badges for everyone. At least several times we were addressed by cm's, some thought we worked there, and at least several times a day I was asked questions by guests who thought I was a cm. Of course I helped them out, weary travelers they are. Most times I got out my map and showed them where to go and gave them my map.
This was really a nice touch. We did find a tigger badge for my DF at village traders at DD. She is a tigger fan.
So we are in the plaza, looking around and see the work on Mickey's sorcer's hat. It is impressive. We turn around and see more people coming in. We are in about 830am, so we can look at the gifts, when out come some green army men. They are cool and one signs and takes a pix with DS. We line up on hollywood boulevard and join the stampede for tot and rnr. We head straight to rnr, and DB waits with DS. DF and I go to fp line, and go right in.
At this point I will say she got me a patch, and man this thing worked!
We rnr, singing to aerosmith(I grew up listening to wrko outside of boston) and hop off. She is screaming the whole time(she said it was her favorite ride) and she buys me a pair of stix.
We go out and she is off with DB to tot. DS and I lounge, get a drink, call grandma, and get some gifts sent to package pickup for DF. She is a beauty and beast fan also. So we head of to bear in the big blue house(sitting and singing) and then back to B&the B.
She of course is enthralled and I videotape the whole darn thing. My brother gave me his megaton 12 hour battery. We exit and and I surprise her with a $85 sketch of the previous show. She is spoiled, no doubt.
Our gifts are sent off to package pickup, and we are off to animation, no new surprises here, though they had shelved John Henry. We did see some animators. I always wondered what they did with the mickey mouse sketch the animator does.
We see some really interesting artwork, and once again DF is spoiled. By now I am about to call her the princess, but by experience learn to keep my tongue. We are off again to see little mermaid, my son does not like ursula. This is really a cute little show, and my camcorder with nightshot shows the people moving the puppets around.
After pacifying my son with an ice cream, we head down and see some characters. I am able to finally get mickey, albeit with a beret on his head. We do get pooh, tigger and eyeore. My DB takes DF on the catasrophe canyon ride and I take my DS to the honey I shrunk the kids playground set. 30minutes later I have a hot sweaty baby. They show up and he of course is not ready to go. I had specifically promised him to bring him here because last year they had closed early. I go and get fp and return. I am sought out by some weary travelers, and assist them. My son is pacified a bit by the extra time at the playground. We go to pizza planet and I get the cool cup. My DS scarfs down his pizza and is off the get the aliens. $5 later I am on my last attempt and the hook gets two. How about that?
We are then onto muppets, and I look for the carpet for the key, but it's not there. We enjoy the show, and then go to character greetings with buzz and woody.
We go on star tours and do baby swap. DB rides twice this time, DS is scared silly, but there is a mom waiting while her partner is on the ride. It does work, and we just sit and relax. We get out and see an ewok, and do the picture thing, he is brown and cute. We go down to drew carey and DB and DF go, it is dark, and DS would be screaming, they take in the backpack. We are waiting outside and I get a few things, when out pop three characters. I don't have the camera or the autograph book, but I do have the video camera. So when they come out we go back and get the autographs. We then go to Indiana Jones, and the show is great, it is packed and they have added on to the show, I thought my son would be scared but he did allright. The last segment with the plane was really cool.
It is about time to head to fantasmic, and we go on the movie ride. We all had to do a little coaxing with DS, and he buried his head in my stomach the whole time, and then we headed down main street to package pickup. About the time we get to Fantasmic, they are loading the last seating section, about 830pm.
The show of course is wonderful, hard to videotape. We could only hope to get the boat full of characters for a character greeting bonanza. Maybe in another lifetime? Departure is evident. The masses are packed, and I scope out the flow. Five minutes, and assert myself, and say this way. We cross at the bottom, and go all the way across and out that exit.
We walk out, exhausted but we had an awesome day.
Everyone is loaded in the trusty volvo, packages and all, and back to the hyatt. My son is thrust into the tub, remember hot sweaty baby, and then squeaky clean he is off to never never land.
Tomorrow is a day for shopping and rest. I pass out knowing there is no wake up call.
