May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

Hi, Sararoonie!!! I'm glad you jumped in with the group. Taiwan! Wow! Now that's a long way to travel from. You should do the FE even if just for the girls. They'll love getting the goodies. On my last (first) cruise there was a few people who just had tote bags out so I don't think it'd be a big deal. Maybe find one you really like or let the girls choose one for themselves. :cutie:

I'm so psyched for the cruise, y'all! I can't stand it! I even bought 2 cute little cotton dresses on the cheap online this morning. princess: I got my new reading glasses (aka "eyeballs") yesterday so I can resume sewing my little fingers off. I'm so torn what to do for my FE gifts. I have too many ideas, not enough hours in the day, and not enough $$ to do it all.

Sweetpee - I love the pic idea. We have a recent family pic I'll have to post.

My dd will turn 14 in July so I consider that 14 in May. She attends a small christian school and is a pretty conservative kid. She is immediately turned off by kids who want to cause trouble or drama. I hope Disney keeps that kind of stuff under control. Your sons sound wonderful. A couple of her best friends are boys and she can never understand why the other girls can't understand that they are just her friends, not boyfriends. Ah, the mind of a teenage girl

As it gets closer maybe she can contact your son and I'll show her the pic so she can look for him on the boat. We may have to do a "Vibe" email contact list before May :)

Welcome aboard!!:cheer2:

I'm a little worried about just walking around Nassau with a 5 year old. I've read things on the boards, and some of the stories scare the crap out of me. I think we're going to do the Blue Lagoon Beach Day, but I'd like to hit a couple of shops before we head back to the ship. Not sure if I'll brave that with Cole.

:surfweb: this will be me tomorrow or should I say 12am on Friday. FINALLY!

I'm a little worried about Nassau too. My husband, son (5 years), and I are planning to do the early (hopefully) dolphin swim on Blue Lagoon island. I was hoping that after that, the boys could go back to the ship for a nap (since it's pirate night and the 5 year old is normally in bed by 7:30) and I was going to get off at Paradise Island to try and meet up with my parents at Atlantis. But I'm a bit afraid of getting lost out and about by myself. Best I can tell, we can't really use cell phones to hook up unless we have international calling.

To all - Assuming I can get the cabana Cindy reserved, does anyone want to share? I've read that people do that. I think you can have up to 10 people. We'll have 5. If not, no worries. I just thought I would throw it out there. :cool1:

Your girls can hang with my twins :)

Thank youuu!!! They'll be happy!

One day more to make reservations :cool1: I want to reserve at Palo (dinner) but I don't know which is the best night... any idea? When is the rotation dinning informed? so it would be better to decide...

Welcome Sararoonie!!!

Here's my girls - Camille 13 and Chapin who is about to turn 9 this weekend (I can't locate the whole family pic right now???)
girls2011.jpg

Oh wow! Camille's coloring is so like my 14 yro's! That's cool! Both my boys are much closer with their girl cousins then their boy cousins but I think it's because: (A.) they have 6 girl cousins vs. 2 boy cousins within 5 years of their ages so the numbers are skewed, and (B.) they're so vastly different from the 2 boys that it's hard for them to relate...the oldest is the farthest from their ages and is Aspie and the other is a textbook "player" type. They're just so different. I think a Vibe line for the teens in the group would be a great idea. Brian is so excited to "meet" his fellow Vibe pals. I told him there was another 14 yro boy and he immediately wanted me to give out his email address and cell phone number. :upsidedow I don't let the kids FB (I know, all my nieces & nephews think I'm the meanest ever pirate:) so that sort of "networking" wouldn't work for him.

I emailed Disney and this is the only information I was able to obtain about dining "On nights 1 , 2 and 5 will be casual
On night 3 will be Dress-up
On night 4 will be Pirate"

thank you! which do you think is the best night to reserve at Palo... I don't want to loose anything...

Personally I am not sure. Me and hubby are trying to figure this out as well we do not want to miss Animator's Palette's show, Pirates Night or Regular Rotational menus. But we do want to have quite romantic meal just the two of us. Maybe someone else know what days the shows will be also. Maybe do Palo before or after regular dining would be option and not eat the full menu at the regular restaurant?:confused3

The VIBE crew!

All of us with teens that will be in Vibe who want to go ahead and be "meeting" their new friends, let's start a list. PM me your teen's name, age, & email address (+ yours if you'd like to have the list also :thumbsup2) and I'll make a list and send it out. I could also add a little list of interests/favorites so they can start finding their common ground. :goodvibes

Based on the last time this itinerary sailed (in 2010), the dining rotations were as follows:

Night 1 - Casual, Rotational menu
Night 2 - Casual, Rotational menu
Night 3 - Dress-up, Rotational menu
Night 4 - Pirate/Casual, Pirate menu
Night 5 - Casual, 'Til We Meet Again menu

Also, the rotations back then were either...

LAPPL
APLLA
PLAAP

We requested LAPPL since AP is our least favorite of the three (although we do have Palo booked for Night 3, the at sea day, with the possibility of having an appetizer and desert at PC if we can stomach it!).

Hope this helps!

I should have added, rotational menu means the dining rooms regular menu (so for AP that means the "show").

I'm trying to wait until my TA can make her best guess at what our rotation will be. I don't want to reserve the wrong night, either.

I feel ya. I don't want to not dine with our boys the first or last nights, don't want to miss Pirate night, and Animators was our favorite on the Dream. What to do???? I'm stressing over Palo, too, but I don't want to not do it. Ya know?

Thats what I thought the rotation would be. But since it was two years old I was not sure if it would still hold true. :goodvibes Thanks Did not want to give anyone any wrong information.

Maybe I'll have my TA request LAPPL for us and book Palo for the at-sea night. Or maybe I'll do APLLA. Crap. I don't know. :lmao:

Has anyone received a refund from Disney Cruise Line for this cruise. I have two cruises booked and do not know how to check what cruise it was for. But the other cruise is for 2013 and I only have deposit made for it so I do not think it would be the one for next year.

If you have second dining seating, you can always book Palo for 6 p.m., then go to your regular dining room later for appetizers and/or dessert. We have done this in the past just so we wouldn't miss out! Keep in mind AP is much different on the Magic than on the Dream. I'm sure you will figure out a way to enjoy it all!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed it remains the same! And hoping an April cruiser on this itinerary can confirm!

That is exactly what we have! Request for LAPPL and Palo on our at-sea night!

Yep! I believe the port fees went down before we even made final payment (or maybe it was after and we received a refund...now I can't remember!). But yes, if you paid in full prior to the port fees going down (which was sometime after 1/10/12 since that was the date I saved a .pdf of our reservation with the higher fees) you would have seen a small refund.

My family and I will be on this ship May 9 for our first Disney Cruise. I have been on other cruises but never a Disney. So excited

Welcome aboard Patti and family!!!

I haven't but then we just booked & PIF last Friday.

Hiya Patti!

I thought of that. I just hate to commit us to an earlier dinner because on our 3-night we were in the 1st seating and always felt like we were cutting the afternoon short to dress for dinner. But of all the days we have, this is the only one I would be even remotely willing to cut short. Ya know? How long is Palo's dinner? Would we have time to scoot out and do a few pics with the boys before our regular seating? I ask because that's the dress-up night and I'd like to get pics of us all schnazzed-up together. :flower3: I think I read you can ask that they speed things along as much as possible to get out quicker. HHmmmm....

I'm keeping my fingers crossed it remains the same! And hoping an April cruiser on this itinerary can confirm!

This is why my TA wants to hold of making her final guess as to what our rotation will be. She said other more recent 5-night cruises have changed things up a few times. Once our same itinerary starts running she says it'll be better. We'd still have time to make changes, tho. No big deal. We're just so excited and want to see all the plans ASAP!

I think I'm gonna put us down for early at Palo on the at-sea night. It's the lesser of all the evils. :goodvibes

This makes sense. Even if there was some sort of refund generated since booking last Friday it's been less than a week so I don't think we'd see anything on the account yet. I'm doubting we will. :upsidedow

For those of you that have already been able to book and or check in online. Palo is offered on Key West day and day at Sea for brunch right? Or have they replaced one with high tea. I heard that they might since Mother's Day falls on this cruise. Also can you book just one Palo reservation or one for both Palo dinner and Palo brunch provided they still have slots open?

Also what time slots where still available for Port Arrival times?
